Position Summary

The Attorney, Sr. Manager provides legal support across Everlake's life and annuity operational, privacy, regulatory, and commercial contracting activities. The role serves as a key legal advisor to Operations, Customer Service Center, Agent Licensing, Claims, Compliance, Risk Management, Technology, Human Resources, and other business functions. The successful candidate will provide practical legal guidance on product and operations matters, vendor and third-party administrator relationships, privacy and data governance obligations, commercial agreements, and business initiatives. This individual will support development of legal guidelines, templates, and process documentation while helping the organization manage legal risk and support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide practical legal counsel on life and annuity insurance issues such as product requirements, claims, escalations, customer communications, and regulatory compliance; agent licensing; and risk management.
• Advise business partners on privacy, data protection, records management, artificial intelligence, and related legal and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with Compliance, Risk Management, Operations, Technology, Human Resources, Finance, senior management, and other business functions to identify legal risks and support strategic initiatives.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of legal guidelines, templates, operational procedures, company policies, process playbooks, and risk management strategies.
• Support responses to regulatory inquiries, examinations, audits, customer matters, disputes, investigations, and other operational legal issues, working with auditors, external counsel, and regulators as needed.
• Research and analyze insurance laws, regulations, legal developments, and industry practices; prepare recommendations, legal opinions, memoranda, training, and stakeholder guidance.
• Work closely with external counsel on insurance-related litigation and disputes when necessary.
• Review, draft, negotiate, and maintain commercial agreements, vendor contracts, service agreements, confidentiality agreements, and third-party administrator agreements.

Qualifications:
Education
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with a state bar association.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction required.
Experience & Skills
• 8+ years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on insurance, financial services, a law firm, or another highly regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, industry practices, privacy, data protection, records management, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting life insurance and annuity products, insurance operations, third-party administrator relationships, regulatory inquiries, examinations, disputes, investigations, or related operational legal matters.
• Experience developing policies, procedures, governance frameworks, legal guidance, or business process documentation.
• Expertise in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on complex contracts and agreements.
• Ability to identify legal risks and provide practical, business-oriented recommendations and solutions.
• Excellent research, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively internally and with external counsel, regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders.
• Proven organizational and project management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Pay Range

$135,000.00 Annually to $175,000.00 Annually
