As a key member of the Professional Development team, the Manager will work with firm leadership to design and implement innovative programs that support attorneys throughout their careers, with a particular focus on associates. The role will primarily support the Mid-Atlantic offices in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, Philadelphia, and Wilmington, leading onboarding, professional development, mentoring, engagement, advancement, and retention.
The role in action:- Lead transformative, firmwide attorney development initiatives and mentoring programs that elevate attorney engagement and career progression.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to firm leadership, practice group leaders, and key business stakeholders, aligning professional development strategies with evolving business priorities.
- Establish strategic development goals and deliver engaging in-person, virtual, and hybrid training programs tailored to attorneys across experience levels and practice areas.
- Drive the associate talent experience from onboarding through advancement, fostering successful integration, engagement, mentorship, professional growth, and long-term retention.
- Collaborate with practice group leadership to create customized development programs, strengthen training curricula, and enhance learning resources across key practice areas.
- Manage complex projects and operational initiatives, leveraging data, adult learning methodologies, and best-in-class professional development practices to maximize effectiveness and measurable impact.
We are seeking candidates who:- Bring 10+ years of professional experience, including 5+ years in attorney development, talent management, professional development, DEI, or related functions.
- Hold Juris Doctor degree. Prior experience practicing law at a large firm preferred.
- Demonstrate exceptional relationship-building, communication, and project management skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders, lead cross-functional initiatives, manage competing priorities, and drive innovative talent development strategies.
