Job Description

Structuring & Rating Agency Support
  • Support senior team members in structuring private investments for an insurance balance sheet to be efficiently capitalized, including preparing analyses that inform structural decisions
  • Participate in rating agency calls and help track methodology changes that could affect existing or prospective structures
  • Assist in exploring novel or bespoke structures for new and existing asset classes, bringing creative thinking to structuring problems alongside senior deal leads
  • Work with legal counsel to draft, review, and mark up transaction documentation (indentures, servicing agreements, purchase agreements), ensuring legal documentation and trustee reporting accurately reflect agreed-upon deal terms
  • Coordinate with internal tax, legal, and accounting teams to incorporate their feedback into investment structures


Modeling & Analytics
  • Build and maintain detailed cash flow and waterfall models for private asset-based transactions across various asset classes
  • Collaborate with the asset management and analytics teams to keep cash flow models current on an ongoing basis for live and closed transactions
  • Analyze rating agency methodologies and regulatory capital treatment (e.g., NAIC/RBC considerations) and translate their implications into structuring and asset selection decisions


Deal Screening & Execution
  • Work closely with BAM to screen potential investment opportunities, assessing initial fit against BWS' investment strategy, asset class priorities, and risk appetite
  • Support due diligence on opportunities selected for further review, including collateral-level data analysis, historical performance review, and servicer/originator assessments
  • Prepare investment committee memos and screening materials
  • Work alongside the asset management and risk teams to monitor existing portfolio investments, tracking performance against underwriting assumptions and flagging emerging risks
  • Conduct market and sector research to inform investment decisions and identify structuring trends relevant to the team's target asset classes


Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree with an excellent academic record
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in reading/analyzing documentation of CLO or ABS securitizations, warehouse, and asset-backed financings; experience in multiple asset classes a plus
  • Exposure to rating agency processes and securitization methodologies; direct rating agency interaction a plus
  • Knowledge or familiarity with insurance investment management a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in MS Excel, PowerPoint, VBA, and Intex;
  • Proactive self-starter with high attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and motivation
  • Ability to work concurrently across multiple live transactions and asset classes
  • Excellent organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills


Salary: $150k - $220k

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
