Full Job Description
The Associate General Counsel will report directly to ICANN's Deputy General Counsel responsible for performing organization-wide legal duties and carrying out responsibilities in the following areas (including, but not limited to): litigation and alternative dispute resolution, internal legal services and advice, and support for Board of Directors. In particular, the Associate General counsel responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: helping develop litigation and alternative dispute resolution strategy and managing all related activities including oversight of outside counsel, legal support and advice to management and other internal clients, legal support and/or subject matter expertise provided to various Board committees and the Board, including attending meetings and making presentations as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
• Key team member responsible for provision of litigation and alternative dispute resolution related services on behalf of ICANN, while protecting ICANN's legal rights, obligations and privileges.
• Key team member responsible for managing ICANN's internal and external litigation activities and independent review process by outlining, implementing, and overseeing discovery, document production, motion practice and other related activities.
• Key team member responsible for overseeing compliance with economic sanctions programs.
• Reviewing and making recommendations to the General Counsel and Secretary, Deputy General Counsel and senior management about litigation and other dispute related issues.
• Ensuring that internal departments worldwide comply with legal requirements as appropriate.
• Provide advice and support to assigned internal clients and work with them to help proactively identify risks and ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies are in place.
• Managing various general corporate legal matters, supporting ICANN's overall legal compliance requirements and providing legal guidance for new and ongoing organizational initiatives.
• Responsible for the interpretation of regulations and the observance of legal procedures, ensuring that ICANN's activities comply with laws and regulations.
• Supporting ICANN's mission of ensuring the security, stability and interoperability of the Internet.
• Supervising and assigning work to other team members to meet completion dates in accordance with established deadlines and review the work of assigned staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions)
• Proficiency using Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Adobe Professional
• Proven ability to prepare detailed reports, presentations and speeches to internal and external audiences
• Strong business acumen with an acute understanding of the balance between risk and benefit

Education and Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 12 years of increasingly responsible experience in related fields required
• License to practice law in California required
• Active license to practice law and being a member in good standing with the appropriate bar or other legal authority is required
• Fluency, both written and spoken, in English is required
• Fluent written and spoken language skills in any of the other official United Nations languages is a plus

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
• Work is performed in a normal office environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise (or depending on circumstances, work might also possibly be performed in a home office environment)
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee regularly is required to sit. Targeted Base Salary Low:

172,000.00

Targeted Base Salary High:

245,000.00
