Job DescriptionThe Associate Director, Trauma, in the Jim and Eleanor Randall Department of Surgery, leads and manages trauma services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. They also support trauma program growth across the Cedars-Sinai Health System.

ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities- Advises the trauma services and ensures clinical operations within trauma care are adhering to program specific goals and regulatory guidelines.
- Leads, maintains, and continually improves the Trauma Quality Improvement & Patient Safety program (PIPS).
- Leads and facilitates the Trauma Performance Improvement Committee meetings to identify areas of improvement in reporting, data collection or review. Participates in the Central and Regional Quality Improvement process of the Trauma Hospital Advisory Council (THAC).
- Leads the validation and ensures that all DHS audit filter information is submitted to Trauma Hospital Advisory Council (THAC) within the designated time periods accurately.
- Leads, develops and provides leadership, coaching and opportunities for professional development to facilitate self-directed work processes, collaboration and focus on quality patient care outcomes related to the Trauma program.
- Leads the coordination and collaboration with the appropriate clinical departments for the development of guidelines, protocols, policies, procedures as needed.
- Engages in the weekly ACS Case Conference as part of the trauma PIPS process. Provides input on issues as needed. May round with the ACS Service as needed.
- Leads the organization and participates in the planning of trauma surgery grand rounds, and other educational events in collaboration with other departments and divisions.
- Coordinates the administration and ensures the educational classes for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) remain of high quality.
- Has lead responsibility for handling the trauma data system. Coordinates the data input and integrity of the Trauma Registry. Ensures trauma registrars submit information according to DHS-EMS Registry.
- Advises the development of and implementation of the Injury Prevention Program within the community and addresses community educational needs through review of data and prioritizes injury prevention programs.
- Mentors other trauma care professionals and related staff as required as a Level I trauma hospital.
- Leads and takes part in trauma and studies concerning trauma processes as appropriate. Oversees the coordination / selection of trauma registry data for research purposes and review and approve all data and data requests for the purposes of trauma related research.
- Leads the preparation in concert with Trauma Program Medical Director for Level 1 Trauma Program accreditation.
- Leads central initiatives related to Trauma Program in partnership with the Service Line Director, Trauma Medical Director, Division Director of General Surgery, Director of Acute Care Surgery, and the Chair of Surgery

QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's Degree Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Science in Nursing, and/or related. - preferred
- Master's Degree Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Science in Nursing, and/or related. For Clinical Support Programs, the MSN is required. - preferred
Experience
- 5 years Within a healthcare setting such as medical, surgical, stroke, radiation and/or related department/unit - required
- 4 years Managing academic clinical department(s), service line(s), and/or related. - required
- 3 years Supervisory/Management experience and overseeing department(s)/service line(s) in a healthcare setting. - required
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse License
- BLS from AHA or ARC
