The Role

Moderna is seeking an Associate Director, Oncology for its growing oncology portfolio. This role plays a key role in developing and scaling commercial capabilities, operational processes, and launch readiness activities to support successful oncology product launches and sustained growth This role sits at the intersection of commercial strategy, field execution, and operational excellence, ensuring that the organization is equipped with best-in-class tools, processes, and capabilities to compete in a complex and rapidly evolving market. The individual will play a central role in launch readiness, sales force effectiveness, and alliance integration, partnering cross-functionally across Marketing, Sales, Medical, Market Access, and external collaborators.

Here's What You'll Do

1. Commercial Operations & Execution
  • Lead the development and optimization of commercial operating models to support both standalone and partnership-based commercialization scenarios
  • Drive launch readiness planning across multiple indications, including integrated workplans, governance, and execution tracking
  • Establish marketing/sales scalable processes for forecasting, performance management, and field execution
  • Oversee commercial KPIs and dashboards, translating insights into actionable recommendations


2. Sales Force Effectiveness & Field Capabilities
  • Support field force strategy and implementation, including sizing, structure, and territory alignment and ongoing efforts to ensure optimization
  • Partner with teams to help build and operationalize incentive compensation frameworks aligned to business objectives
  • Lead development of sales force capabilities, including onboarding, training curricula, and continuous skill-building programs with relevant cross-functional partners
  • Drive adoption of CRM and field tools to enhance productivity and customer engagement


3. Data, Analytics & Insights
  • Partner with analytics teams to deliver advanced insights supporting decision-making (e.g., targeting, resource allocation, launch performance)
  • Implement tools and processes for real-time performance monitoring
  • Drive data-driven culture across the commercial organization


4. Alliance & Cross-Functional Integration
  • Support co-promotion / alliance models, ensuring seamless integration of capabilities, processes, and governance
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities between internal teams and external partners
  • Align on roles, responsibilities, and ways of working to maximize partnership effectiveness


6. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and speed to execution
  • Identify and promote best practices across markets and brands
  • Lead or support strategic projects (e.g., new capability builds, launch acceleration initiatives)


Here's What You'll Need (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 6+ years of experience in biopharma commercial operations, commercial excellence, marketing operations, consulting, or related functions
  • Experience in oncology commercialization and/or launch execution preferred
  • Demonstrated success in sales force effectiveness, marketing operations, or commercial excellence roles
  • Data-driven, execution-focused, and comfortable making trade-offs in key decisions
  • Strategic thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex data and insights into clear, actionable recommendations for field teams and senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Finance, and other key stakeholders
  • Analytics capabilities including how to effectively measure launch success
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

The salary range for this role is $142,500.00 - $256,500.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
