Segal McCambridge, a nationally recognized litigation firm, is seeking an
Associate Attorney to join our Philadelphia team. This position focuses on
toxic tort (asbestos) and general liability defense, including premises liability, Child Victims Act (CVA) matters, transportation, product liability, and other complex civil litigation. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a meaningful caseload while collaborating with a team of highly experienced litigators.
This is a
hybrid position based in Philadelphia, offering flexibility to work remotely while maintaining a strong connection with the firm's attorneys, clients, and litigation team.
What You'll Do- Manage all phases of assigned litigation matters with partner oversight
- Handle toxic tort and general liability defense matters, including premises liability, CVA, transportation, product liability, and other civil litigation
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents
- Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy
- Take and defend depositions
- Communicate directly with clients, insurance carriers, and other litigation stakeholders
- Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trial preparation
- Attend court proceedings and other case-related appearances as needed
- Handle cases from inception through resolution while continuing to develop your litigation and trial skills
What We're Looking For- Active license to practice law in Pennsylvania
- Admission to an additional jurisdiction is a plus, but not required
- At least 1 year of civil litigation experience
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents
- Experience conducting legal research and handling depositions
- Experience in toxic tort, asbestos, premises liability, CVA, transportation, product liability, or other general liability defense is preferred
- Insurance defense or defense-side litigation experience is a plus
- Strong legal writing, analytical, advocacy, and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
- Self-motivated professional who takes ownership of assignments
- Mediation, arbitration, and courtroom experience is a plus
