The Department of Marketing in the Miller College of Business at Ball State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Marketing position beginning August 2027.

Candidates with an interest and ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate marketing courses, particularly in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: digital marketing, marketing research, consumer behavior, and marketing analytics.

What you'll do and what you will bring:

Position Function

Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate marketing courses, maintaining an active program of scholarly research, and contributing to the continued success of the Department of Marketing through meaningful service, student engagement, and collaboration with colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching:
  • Teach 9 semester credit hours of undergraduate and/or graduate marketing courses, with assignments based on departmental needs and the faculty member's expertise.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in face-to-face and online environments.
  • Develop engaging learning experiences that connect theory and practice through applied, immersive, and industry-engaged learning opportunities, when appropriate.

Research:
  • Maintain an active and productive program of scholarly research that demonstrates the potential for sustained scholarly achievement consistent with departmental, college, and AACSB expectations for tenure and promotion.
  • Disseminate research through quality peer-reviewed publications, academic conferences, and other appropriate scholarly outlets.
  • Contribute to a collaborative research culture through scholarly engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and when appropriate, the involvement and mentorship of students in research activities.


Service:
  • Contribute meaningful service to the department, college, university, profession, and broader community.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives that advance student success, curriculum innovation, industry engagement, and the department's shared priorities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, students, alumni, and external partners to strengthen the department and enhance the student experience.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:
  • Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Marketing or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • Candidates with ABD will be considered and must demonstrate satisfactory progress toward completion of the doctoral degree consistent with university policy.


Experience:
  • Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, high-quality scholarly research.
  • Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, effective university-level teaching.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of effective university teaching.
  • Teaching interests or expertise in one or more of the following areas: digital marketing, marketing research, consumer behavior, or marketing analytics.
  • Evidence of an active research pipeline and potential for sustained scholarly productivity.
  • Interest or experience in applied and immersive learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a collegial, student-centered department.
