Posting Context Statement The Counseling and Mental Health Center Assistant Director of Clinical Services provides strategic leadership, clinical oversight and administrative management for the university of Idaho's Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) clinical services. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, ethical, responsive and evidence-based behavioral health services to students. This position supervises clinical staff, oversees clinical operations, ensures compliance with applicable laws and accreditation standards and collaborates with campus and community partners to promote student well-being.
Position Overview Under the direction of the CMHC Executive Director, the Assistant Director of Clinical Services oversees clinical operations, crisis response, clinical staff supervision, policy development, compliance with applicable laws and professional standards, outreach programming and assessment of counseling services. The position collaborates extensively with campus partners to foster a comprehensive, campus-wide approach to student mental health. The Assistant Director of Clinical Services has a key role promoting accessible mental health services to the campus community and ensuring that those services conform with best practices in the field. In addition to the Assistant Director's administrative role, clinical responsibilities include direct service to clients, crisis coverage, outreach and consultation to the campus community, liaison work with campus partners and after-hours response to campus events.

Required Experience - Five years providing mental health service for young adults
- Three years working with faculty, staff or students in higher education
- Supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience managing projects effectively and meeting deadlines
Required Education - Master's or Doctoral degree in Clinical, Counseling, Educational Psychology, Social Work or Professional Counseling
Required Other - Must be licensed in one of the following:
- Clinical, Counseling or Educational Psychologist
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
- Current independent clinical licensure (e.g., Ph.D, Psy.D, EdD, LCPC, LCSW) in Idaho or able to obtain at the time of hire.
Additional Preferred - Demonstrated experience in management or leadership at a mental health clinic
- One or more years of supervisory or administrative leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience with crisis intervention and risk assessment
- Demonstrated skills in providing services to students
- Experience in a college or university counseling center
- Three years of supervisory experience
- Five years of experience as a licensed provider of clinical services
- Experience working on a multidisciplinary clinical staff
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role with professional ethics, legal issues and risk management
- Demonstrated experience with mental health law and professional ethics
- Degree in Psychology from an APA accredited program
- Master's Degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program
- Master's Degree in Professional Counseling from a CACREP accredited program
