Job SummaryThis role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a commitment to operational excellence within a complex healthcare environment.
Responsibilities- Assist in directing and managing all food service purchasing functions for the department.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality, service, and competitive pricing.
- Monitor inventory levels and implement effective inventory control practices to minimize waste and shortages.
- Analyze purchasing trends, utilization data, and market conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, contractual agreements, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.
- Collaborate with Food & Nutrition leadership, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to support departmental objectives.
- Oversee product sourcing, substitutions, and standardization initiatives.
- Participate in budget preparation and expenditure management.
- Prepare and present reports related to purchasing, inventory, and operational performance.
- Support staff development, workflow improvement, and process optimization initiatives.
- Assist with emergency procurement needs and operational contingency planning.
QualificationsEducation- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, or a related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience- Minimum of 5 years of progressive purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or food service management experience.
- Previous healthcare, hospital, hospitality, or institutional food service experience strongly preferred.
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Strong understanding of procurement practices, inventory management, and vendor contract administration.
- Experience with purchasing systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and operational excellence.
