Acquisition Specialists - Space Systems

This is a contingent position based upon contract award

Acquisition Specialists - Space Systems

KBR is seeking Acquisition Specialists to assist with the successful delivery of space systems. These individuals will play a crucial role in providing recommendations translating mission needs into operationally delivered end-to-end solutions through developing and coordinating documentation necessary for execution. These positions focus on supporting the Space Systems Command (SSC) customer on the Hemisphere program.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provides expert advice to Government Program Managers and Senior Space Force leadership regarding acquisition strategies, contracting, budgeting, and program execution
  • Provides expertise in software acquisition within the DoD to include classified ACAT-like space control systems
  • Offers strategic approaches for developing documentation required to support Defense Acquisition Boards
  • Highly knowledgeable in developing and coordinating all activities and documentation required to support source selections
  • Demonstrated experience with Air Force contracting and Air Force financial management
  • Supports ongoing and emerging program acquisitions
  • Provides expertise in schedule management of DoD space programs
  • Serves as a strategic problem solver for the Government and refines acquisition strategies
  • Identifies program execution issues and provides accompanying solution recommendations
  • Drafts presentation materials, status briefings, and strategic communication inputs
  • Performs analyses of program business cases and risk assessments
  • Provides actionable recommendations to the Government Program Managers
  • Develops and collaborates on acquisition planning briefings and documents (AoA, ASP, ASD, J&A, etc.)
  • Develops and collaborates on solicitation planning and execution documents (RFPs, SOWs, CDRLs, Incentive Plans, etc.)
  • Drafts technical evaluations and functions as advisors in Source Selections as requested by the Government


Required Qualifications:
  • Active TS clearance, SCI eligible
  • Bachelor's Degree in related science field (e.g., systems engineering, software engineering, etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable job experience for mid-level positions.
  • Minimum of 10 years of applicable job experience for Senior positions.
  • Knowledgeable in the fields of Air Force contracting, schedule management of DoD contracts, and Air Force financial management
  • Able to organize and conduct ACAT-like technical design reviews and audits
  • Experience developing, updating, and coordinating ACAT-like program documentation
  • Amenable to being nominated for access to Special Access Programs (SAP).


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in related science field (e.g., systems engineering, software engineering, etc.)
  • Understands Program Management of ACAT I through ACAT III programs
  • Previously served as an evaluator/advisor on at least one Source Selection
  • Experience with generative AI tools
  • Experience with Confluence and JIRA
  • SAP eligible
  • Certifications: DAWIA/APDP Program Management Level III, Project Management Professional (PMP), and/or PMP Program Management Professional (PgMP)
  • Proficient in CCaR and MS Project software


Locations: Los Angeles (El Segundo), CA preferred. Colorado Springs.

Scheduled Weekly Hours:

Basic Compensation:
$110,000 - $217,000 annually (This range is for the CA area only)
$100,000 - $198,000 annually (This range is for the CO area only)

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
