The
Yard Manager is responsible for overseeing all yard operations across multiple locations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant trailer and equipment movement. This role provides leadership to yard personnel, drives operational excellence, and serves as a key liaison between internal teams and external customers. The Yard Manager is accountable for workforce management, equipment readiness, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives that support overall supply chain performance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:- Operate Lead, supervise, and develop yard personnel, ensuring adherence to company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
- Conduct interviews, hiring processes, and road tests to onboard qualified drivers and yard staff.
- Perform employee evaluations, coaching, and corrective action administration as needed.
- Oversee daily yard operations across multiple locations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and service excellence.
- Develop and manage dock door schedules to support on-time loading, unloading, and trailer staging.
- Manage trailer movement processes, ensuring accurate documentation and completion of movement sheets.
- Monitor and manage yard equipment including yard goats, trailers, and rental units to ensure operational readiness.
- Coordinate with Shop and Dispatch teams to resolve red tag equipment issues and minimize downtime.
- Conduct yard inspections and dock walks to maintain safety, cleanliness, and compliance standards.
- Investigate, document, and report incidents, ensuring timely resolution and corrective action.
- Act as a primary point of contact for customers and collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Manage driver hours and support accurate payroll processing.
- Oversee inventory, supplies, and communication equipment across all yard locations.
- Travel to off-site or customer locations as needed to support operations
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of yard management processes, trailer movement, safety and compliance standards.
- Ability to lead, coach and develop a team.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make real-time operational decisions.
- Prior experience with GPS tracking systems, yard management systems
- Proficient with MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Prior experience creating and managing work schedules.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Valid drivers' license and clean driving record required.
- Ability to travel between multiple yards and customer locations as needed.
- Excellent customer service skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate professionally.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (including nights, weekends (mandatory), and holidays) to support a 24/7 operation

Salary Description
$90,000.00 - $110,000.00 annually
