Overview:CBS News is looking for a full-time personal finance writer for our "MoneyWatch: Managing Your Money" vertical, an affiliate content section dedicated to sharing informative commerce stories about high-interest financial topics - from mortgage interest rates to life insurance policies to tax tips, gold investing, student loans and more. The goal of this project is to drive revenue via clicks and conversions through this content. The ideal candidate has a personal finance writing background and can write quickly and accurately without sacrificing accuracy or CBS News standards. They should also have an understanding of sponsored content, affiliate links and experience optimizing content for search. This is a remote-eligible position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Pitch and write in-depth explainers, reviews and "best-of" listicles as well as quick-turnaround daily personal finance stories based on the news cycle and seasonality
- Use data to inform MoneyWatch vertical priorities and adjust content decisions
- Optimize headlines and copy for SEO
- Update and maintain a library of existing articles
- Assist the senior editor and managing editor with content planning and calendar management
- Participate in broader strategic discussions with partners
- CPE certification is a plus but not required
Basic Qualifications:- 3+ years of writing experience, preferably in business, personal finance or affiliate marketing (lead generation)
- Ability to write clean, clear and accurate content on deadline, without sacrificing CBS News standards
- Ability to interpret data and metrics to inform story ideation and performance
- Experienced with affiliate marketing and knowledge of the space
Additional Qualifications:- Business mindset, comfortable using content to generate revenue
- Strong understanding of sponsored content and affiliate links
- Experience optimizing content for search
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $80000.0 - 90000.0.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
