Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Water/Wastewater Construction Inspector for work in Rancho Cordova or Manteca, CA office locations. The position will perform a variety of investigation and construction related work in support of small and large infrastructure projects. The Inspector will perform such tasks as construction document management, construction inspection, collecting field data needed to progress pay applications, establishing quantity and cost estimates. Inspector must be flexible, client focused and capable of working independently under the supervision of project managers.

 

Responsibilities
  • Monitor contractor operations for compliance with contract plans, provisions, and specifications.
  • Proactive in identifying field issues and discussing solutions with supervisor and contractor.
  • Be familiar with and able to advise contractors of violations of safety procedures and recommend adjustments to bring these violations into compliance.
  • Executing field measurements of pay items; maintaining daily diaries, materials notebooks, redline as-built plans, understanding progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.
  • Oversee and document materials testing such as: soil compaction, concrete and asphalt field tests.
  • Ability to document all field activities, work in a collaborative manner with the owner and contractor.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent is required.  
  • Associates degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred, but not required.
  • 6+ years of experience in construction inspection. Water or wastewater facility inspection experience preferred.
  • Applicant should be experienced with foundations, buildings, underground utilities, earthwork, asphalt and concrete.
  • Works in a timely fashion to meet project requirements.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, contractors and agency review staff.
  • Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and ability to perform quantity and engineering computations.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
  • Ability to repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $54.02/Hr. - $75.00/Hr. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
