DescriptionBeing Responsive | Being a Team Player | Taking Ownership | Having a "Get It Done" Attitude | Being a Problem SolverREAD THIS FIRSTThis is not a job for a great salesperson, a strong sales manager, or a marketing expert. Thankfully, we have those people and resources already. This is a job for a business leader who happens to own revenue. You will be measured on the leaders you build, the standards you hold, and the quality of the revenue you bring in, not on the deals you close yourself.
THE ROLEThe VP of Sales & Marketing owns all sales, marketing, and estimating across every Locke site. The role sits on the Leadership Team and reports directly to Asher Kazmann, President & Founder. As Locke scales, this seat is built to grow into a Chief Revenue or Chief Growth Officer role.
Yes, you will step into customer meetings when it matters, but your real job is to carry the culture flag and grow leaders who grow the business.
WHAT WE EXPECTThese are the five results this role owns. This is what good looks like.
1. Own the revenue strategy to $500M. Build and continually refine the written plan: product lines, geographic markets, customer segments, acquisitions, and greenfield expansions. Articulate it so clearly that every person on your team can explain their part in it.
- Present and defend the plan with the Leadership Team.
- Translate it into quarterly Rocks, annual goals, and a scorecard your team owns.
- Run an ROI-driven sales and marketing budget.
2. Build a revenue organization of leaders. Design the structure for sales, marketing, and estimating at $130M, $250M, and $500M. Hire, develop, and when necessary replace the leaders in each function.
- Monthly one-on-ones with every direct report.
- Compensation plans that reward the right behavior and the right revenue.
- Managers who hold their own teams accountable and communicate across functions without you in the middle.
3. Protect the quality of every revenue dollar. Understand how a dollar travels through Locke, from quote to contract to production to cash.
- Hold the line on margin. Sell to good customers, and price high-risk, high-hassle work for what it really costs.
- Get contract terms right on the front end.
- Teach your team to talk plainly about money with customers and vendors.
4. Lead the Locke culture. Be the standard-bearer for our core values inside and outside the company.
- Set expectations so clearly that no one wonders where the bar is.
- Have the hard conversation early, directly, and with care.
- Stay steady when the pressure is on, so your team does too.
5. Be the face of Locke. Represent the company with our largest customers, industry partners, and our own people.
- Step into strategic negotiations and key relationships when it counts.
- Build Locke's brand as we enter new regions across the Central, Southwest, and East Coast regions.
- Lean into AI and modern tools to make the team more productive and the customer experience better.
WHO YOU AREYou are a leader of people first, and a business operator second. Revenue is the result of both.
- A natural leader with high emotional intelligence. People follow you because they trust you, not because of your title.
- Humble and confident at the same time. You say "I was wrong" and "I don't know" without flinching, and you speak your mind when the room disagrees.
- A builder of leaders. Your proudest wins are people you developed who now run teams of their own.
- Fluent in how a business makes money. You know good revenue from bad revenue. You read margin, cash flow, contract risk, and customer fit, and you don't let emotion or the desire to win a job override the math.
- Courageous about money. You negotiate with customers and vendors directly, and you teach your team to do the same.
- Strategic, with the discipline to stay there. You protect time to think about acquisitions, new markets, and new product lines, and you let your team execute.
- Visible and credible. You are comfortable being the face of a company in front of a customer's executive team, an industry audience, or a plant floor.
- Confident you can lead a business from $100M to $300M and beyond. Being part of a company that has made that climb is a strong plus.
Industry experience is not required. The right leader will learn precast quickly. Experience in construction, engineering, or industrial manufacturing helps.
HOW WE OPERATELocke runs on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), and this is non-negotiable. You will be expected to fully commit to it and lead your team inside it. Prior EOS experience is a plus but not required.
In practice, that means:
- A weekly L10 meeting with your team, rated 9 or higher.
- Quarterly Rocks and a weekly scorecard that measure what matters.
- Open, honest issue-solving with your peers on the Leadership Team.
Our purpose is to make our customers' lives easier and our employees' lives better. And we actually make decisions based on this purpose.
