Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Planning.

Reports to EVP Chief Strategy and Growth Officer

Summary: The Vice President, Strategy & Planning leads the development, execution, and monitoring of the Enterprise Strategy and Business Plan. Serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, this role partners across the organization to shape long-term growth, evaluate strategic opportunities, and drive alignment around enterprise priorities. The Vice President provides data-driven insights, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations that support decision-making, organizational performance, and sustainable competitive advantage.

Responsibilities:

Strategy development
  • Lead the development of enterprise and divisional strategies, including business, financial, growth, capability, and organizational priorities.
  • Design and manage the Enterprise Strategy framework and planning process.
  • Develop strategic analyses, business cases, and analytic models to inform key business decisions.
  • Monitor progress against enterprise strategic objectives and recommend course corrections as needed.
  • Create executive-level strategy deliverables and presentations to support alignment and decision-making.

Enterprise Business Planning and Growth Strategy
• Direct the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for Board approval and the continued maturation of the AOP process.
• Lead development of the Enterprise Growth Strategy and support enterprise growth planning efforts.
• Evaluate market opportunities and diversification strategies.

Strategy Communications
• Partner with Associate and Corporate Communications to translate enterprise strategy into clear and effective communications.
• Support communication of strategic priorities, progress, and outcomes to executive leadership and key stakeholders.

Strategy Team
• Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing strategy team.
• Foster a culture of analytical rigor, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Evolve the strategy team into a trusted internal consulting resource for the enterprise.

Strategy Consultants
• Serve as the primary liaison for strategy consulting engagements and advisory relationships.
• Manage external consultants and ensure consistency, quality, and value across strategy initiatives.

Strategy Community
• Lead the development of ongoing market, industry, and competitive intelligence capabilities.
• Serve as the BCBSA strategy executive liaison and cultivate relationships with peer organizations and strategic partners.
• Develop strong partnerships with stakeholders across Independence subsidiaries, including AmeriHealth Caritas and Tandigm.
• Drive strategic initiatives and special projects as assigned by the CEO and Executive Leadership Team.

Hybrid

Independence has implemented a "Hybrid" model which consists of Associates working in the office 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday) and remotely 2 days a week (Monday & Friday). This role is designated as a role that fits into the "Hybrid" model. While associates may work remotely on our designated remote days, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
