Full Job Description
Role Summary

Reporting to the Design Office Manager, the incumbent in this role will play a key part in supporting the Toronto design office. This position requires a highly versatile professional responsible for managing and optimizing Autodesk CAD and BIM environments that support mining, engineering, and project delivery teams.

The role ensures compliance with industry and project standards, maintains data integrity across multidisciplinary workflows (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, infrastructure, and mineral processing), and enhances overall design efficiency. The candidate will support the full project lifecycle from initial software setup to maintaining stable, high-performing design environments.

This position involves working in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines and may include occasional travel and site work. While primarily focused on systems administration, the role may also support the production of project deliverables when required.

Key Responsibilities

CAD & BIM System Administration
  • Install, configure, and maintain Autodesk tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, Inventor, Vault, BIM 360/ACC).
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and licensing across on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Oversee updates, patches, version control, and compatibility across the design office.
  • Administer Autodesk Building Design for model coordination, document control, and field collaboration.
  • Oversee drawing libraries, content centers, Revit families, Plant 3D specs, and shared resources.
  • Improve CAD/BIM workflows to support design efficiency, software intelligence, and construction deliverables.
  • Maintain documentation for workflows, file structures, naming conventions, and regulatory drawing requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with internal standards and external mining regulations.
  • Build automated QA/QC tools for model validation.

Support, Training, and User Enablement
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for CAD/BIM users across engineering and design operations.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues, model corruption, data conflicts, and cloud collaboration problems.
  • Create user guides, best-practice documentation, and workflow tutorials.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and project managers in small, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Continuously develop technical skills and stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Manage personal workload and contribute to project scheduling updates.
  • Adhere to internal policies, standards, and procedures.

Qualifications
  • 3-7 years of CAD/BIM administration experience, ideally in mining, heavy industry, or large-scale infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise in Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, Advanced Steel).
  • Experience administering Forma Building Design environments [formerly known as BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)].
  • Solid understanding of engineering drafting standards and multidisciplinary coordination.

The expected pay range for this opportunity: CA$75,000 - $95,000.

Note: Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
