Full Job Description
The Role

We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Finance to lead and scale Mariana Minerals' existing Accounting and FP&A team as we grow from two capital-intensive flagship projects today toward a broader portfolio of commercial mining and mineral-processing operations. Reporting to the Co-Founder & Chief Financial Officer, this role owns the finance organization's execution end to end - technical accounting, close, audit, and controls on one side; budgeting, forecasting, and cross-functional business partnering on the other.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical accounting expertise with strong strategic and people leadership, and has scaled a finance function before at a capital-intensive, high-growth company. As Mariana continues to grow, this role will play a key part in strengthening internal controls, building financial infrastructure, and preparing the company for its next stage of growth.

This role will work closely with the CEO, CFO, project leadership, and the board, and will lead Mariana's existing Accounting and FP&A staff across multiple operating locations.

What You'll Do

FP&A & Strategic Finance
  • Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning across corporate and project-level P&Ls - particularly in the form of development and management of Mariana's internally-developed FP&A tools and BizOs software platform.
  • Partner directly with the CEO, CFO, and project leadership on capital allocation, unit economics, and project-level financial modeling for Lithium One, Copper One, and future sites.
  • Own board and investor reporting, including monthly and quarterly board packages, investor updates, and ad hoc requests from Mariana's investor base.
  • Build the financial infrastructure, reporting cadence, and KPIs needed to support Mariana's plan to stand up ten commercial projects over the next decade.

Accounting & Controllership
  • In conjunction with Mariana's Controller, own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate, timely, and audit-ready financials across all entities and projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors; manage the annual audit process end to end.
  • Set and maintain technical accounting policy, including capitalized project costs, inventory and commodity accounting, revenue recognition, and foreign currency, as operations scale.
  • Build and strengthen internal controls and financial systems in anticipation of future capital raises and eventual public-company readiness.
  • Oversee treasury and cash management across a balance sheet funded by venture capital and project-level capital structures.

Team & Systems Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop Mariana's existing Accounting and FP&A team as headcount and project count scale.
  • Evaluate and implement finance systems and tooling, including ERP and planning tools, to replace manual processes as transaction volume and complexity increase.
  • Represent finance in cross-functional planning with Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Talent as Mariana scales its corporate functions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and automation across the finance organization.

Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including senior leadership spanning both accounting/controllership and FP&A.
  • A track record of scaling a finance function at a capital-intensive, high-growth company, such as hardware, industrials, energy, or mining, ideally through a period of significant fundraising or capital deployment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles; CPA or equivalent technical accounting credential strongly preferred.
  • Direct experience owning external audit relationships and board or investor reporting.
  • Experience building or upgrading financial systems and processes as a company scales.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems and financial planning tools.
  • Background in natural resources, energy, infrastructure, or other capital-intensive businesses is a plus.
  • Experience partnering with government or regulated-industry stakeholders is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
