Job Summary:

As a key member of the college's leadership team theVice President for Campus Planning & Operations will provide strategic direction and oversight while leading, planning, directing and evaluating the operational, financial, and personnel functions of campus planning and operations. This will include facility services, public safety, operational and institutional support services, construction management, energy, facility and events, wellness and fitness center and food services including vending and catering.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides administrative leadership and supervision for assigned units, participates in the hiring process, ensures appropriate onboarding, training, coaching and discipline, and through collaboration with the Human Resources Department, develops and implements effective supervisory practices.
  • Prepares annual operating budget recommendations, and allocates budget expenses for assigned units and functions.
  • Develops and administers college-wide operating policies and procedures in collaboration with other leadership.
  • Advises the President on matters regarding assigned functions and departments and provides information, advice and documents to the President's Cabinet, institutional administrators and others as necessary.
  • Coordinates departmental activities with other institutional offices and administrators, provides assistance to requesting departments and represents the department in meetings involving institutional, community and state representatives.
  • Advises and consults with cabinet, college-wide administrators and employees regarding campus operations.
  • Serves as the institution's planning officer by coordinating institutional long range planning activities for facilities development, building upgrades and modifications and equipment replacement schedules.
  • Coordinates all activities related to the design, development, remodeling and new construction at all institutional facilities.
  • Monitors systems operations for federal, state and local compliance with safety and related regulations, monitors building and grounds for safety emergency preparations, first aid services, inclement weather conditions, fire protection and related safety equipment and serves as administrator for emergency response, environmental safety concerns, Americans With Disabilities Act facility accessibility and vehicle use issues.
  • Serves as President of the Kalamazoo Valley Community College Holding Company.
  • Responsible for government relations, Legal Affairs and Title IX.
  • Develops and maintains new and existing relationships with partners and vendors.
  • Negotiates, enforces and provides oversight for campus operations related institutional contracts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master's degree in a related field such as educational administration or business administration is required, and six (6) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

PhD, EdD or JD.

Physical Demands:

The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and have close visual acuity.

Work Hours:
Core business hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Attending College and community special events will require evening and weekend hours.
