SummaryHII Mission Technologies is seeking a Vice President, Controller to serve as a key member of the Finance leadership team, reporting directly to the Mission Technologies CFO. This position is responsible for the organization's financial accounting and reporting operations, including the preparation and analysis of consolidated periodic financial reports and the maintenance of effective accounting systems and internal controls in accordance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting regulations, and SOX requirements.
The VP, Controller will provide financial leadership across Mission Technologies, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, consistent application of finance policies and procedures, and a strong internal control environment. The position will also provide financial interpretation, analysis, and guidance to support business and executive leadership.
What you will do - Lead Mission Technologies' financial accounting and reporting activities through a professional finance organization, including analysis of financial results and application of accepted accounting principles and methods.
- Ensure HII and Mission Technologies finance policies and procedures are consistently implemented and followed across the business.
- Maintain an effective internal control environment in compliance with the SOX Compliance Plan.
- Lead quarterly compliance activities and management's annual control self-assessment program.
- Lead the monthly and quarterly financial close cycles, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and HII close guidelines.
- Perform month-end analysis of financial results, investigate variances, and provide meaningful financial insight to leadership.
- Provide financial interpretation, analysis, and support while monitoring for appropriateness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable government accounting standards, rules, and regulations.
- Review and assess cash flows, financial position, operating results, and variance analyses, and prepare quarterly Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) presentations.
- Manage internal and external audits and develop and execute appropriate remediation plans resulting from audit findings.
- Foster an integrated finance culture focused on improving team productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Provide accounting direction, financial expertise, and analytical support to other functions across Mission Technologies.
- Provide ad hoc financial analyses as needed by Mission Technologies and HII leadership.
- Participate in special projects at the discretion of the CFO and President.
- Lead, coach, develop, and support direct reports and the broader finance organization.
What you must have - Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 10+ years of progressive experience in audit, accounting, and SEC reporting.
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- Big Four public accounting experience.
- Government accounting experience.
- Audit or transaction services experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, PCAOB standards, and SEC financial rules and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of SOX requirements and the COSO framework.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent project management, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and effectively prioritize diverse responsibilities.
Bonus Points for... - MBA or Master of Accountancy.
- Aerospace and Defense industry or Fortune 500 experience.
