Vice President, Clinical Applications
Job Summary:
The Vice President, Clinical Applications will report to the CIO and lead the team responsible for ArchWell Health's clinical applications, including eClinicalWorks and the related tools and applications that support care delivery across our markets. This person will help make sure our systems are reliable, easy to use, well-governed, and aligned with the needs of our providers, center teams, members, and business partners.
We are looking for a leader who understands healthcare technology, enjoys working closely with clinical and operational teams, and can balance strategy with practical execution. The right person will be comfortable setting direction, solving problems, supporting the team, working with vendors, and helping ArchWell continue to improve how clinical applications support our care model. They are expected to not only operate the current environment but also shape the clinical applications strategy for ArchWell Health.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Lead the Clinical Applications team, including governance, support, implementation, optimization, product, and project delivery work.
Serve as the primary leader for eClinicalWorks and related clinical applications, making sure these tools support ArchWell's clinical, operational, and business goals.
Create clear processes for reviewing application changes, prioritizing requests, managing releases, standardizing workflows, and improving system configuration.
Work closely with clinical leadership, operations, market teams, IT, training, revenue cycle, quality, compliance, pharmacy, digital communications, and other partners to connect technology decisions to real business and care delivery needs.
Guide implementations, upgrades, hotfixes, configuration changes, testing, validation, go-live planning, post-launch support, and ongoing system maintenance.
Make sure users have a dependable support experience, with clear intake channels, escalation paths, root-cause follow-up, documentation, and communication.
Look for ways to improve clinical workflows, provider experience, member engagement, interoperability, patient safety, reporting, and day-to-day operational efficiency.
Manage vendor relationships, including eClinicalWorks and other partners, to review capabilities, resolve issues, coordinate escalations, and keep work moving forward.
Seek and support integration and interoperability opportunities that improve the user experience, increase data availability, reduce manual work, and strengthen coordination across clinical, operational, and reporting workflows.
Set team goals, staffing plans, operating metrics, and communication routines that create visibility and accountability for the Clinical Applications function.
Coach and develop team members while building a culture of collaboration, ownership, responsiveness, documentation, and service excellence.
Informed by business, clinical, and market priorities, develop a practical roadmap for eClinicalWorks and related clinical technologies that balances reliability, standardization, provider experience, care model support, interoperability, and long-term platform evolution.
Maintain awareness of developments across the broader EMR, clinical applications, interoperability, automation, analytics, and digital health landscape, and translate relevant advancements into practical recommendations for ArchWell's clinical application roadmap.
Use application data, support metrics, workflow performance indicators, user feedback, and operational outcomes to assess system health, identify improvement opportunities, prioritize work, and report progress to leadership.
Partner with training, operations, clinical leadership, and market teams to support adoption of application changes, including clear communication, role-based education, workflow reinforcement, and feedback loops after deployment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Senior leadership experience in healthcare technology, clinical applications, EHR/EMR operations, product management, application support, or clinical systems implementation.
Strong understanding of eClinicalWorks EMR/PM or another enterprise ambulatory EHR platform, including configuration, workflows, upgrades, support, testing, integrations, and optimization.
Ability to lead cross-functionally across clinical, operational, technical, revenue cycle, compliance, and executive teams by building trust, aligning priorities, resolving tradeoffs, and translating complex business and care delivery needs into clear application decisions.
Comfort setting priorities, creating structure, managing competing needs, and turning business problems into clear execution plans.
Clear and confident communicator who can explain application issues, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
Good understanding of healthcare operations, ambulatory workflows, patient safety, quality programs, compliance needs, access workflows, revenue cycle impacts, and value-based care priorities.
Experience improving application support, incident management, escalation, root-cause follow-up, change management, and user adoption.
Comfort working with vendors, evaluating new capabilities, coordinating priorities, and following through on issue resolution.
Organized, analytical, and comfortable solving problems in a fast-paced and growing environment.
Ability to build and develop strong teams while encouraging accountability, collaboration, service orientation, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, information systems, business, clinical informatics, computer science, or a related field required; master's degree preferred.
At least ten (10) years of progressive experience in healthcare technology, clinical applications, EHR/EMR operations, healthcare IT, clinical informatics, or related application leadership roles.
At least seven (7) years of people leadership experience, including experience leading managers, analysts, product teams, implementation teams, support teams, or cross-functional application delivery teams.
