Veteran Transition Program-Associate Corporate Actions

The Veterans Transition Program is designed to support veterans in making the transition from military life to the civilian workforce. The Program offers participants the opportunity to work at the world's largest asset manager for six months. On completion of the Program, successful participants will be offered permanent employment at BlackRock.

Over the course of the Program, participants will:
  • Join teams and have an immediate impact;
  • Immerse themselves in the work of their teams;
  • Gain an understanding of how BlackRock serves its clients;
  • Be supported through training and mentorship;
  • Get exposure to senior leaders;
  • Participate in social and networking opportunities.

Program Structure:

The program begins with an orientation where you'll learn about BlackRock's principles, mission, purpose, and culture. You'll learn about the asset management industry and get an in-depth look at how BlackRock serves its clients. Following orientation, you'll join your team and gain insights into the day-to-day life of an Associate as you develop subject-matter expertise through on-the-job learning and our industry-leading technology, Aladdin.

Team & Context

The Outsourced Platform Services (OPS) Corporate Actions team delivers corporate actions processing for external institutional clients using BlackRock's Aladdin platform. The team operates globally across multiple locations (including Wilmington, Edinburgh, and Gurgaon) and partners closely across time zones to provide consistent service coverage. The group is known for a strong risk and controls mindset, clear documentation, and disciplined execution in time-sensitive markets. We work with a variety of client operating models and custodian setups, which makes the work dynamic and highly collaborative.

Role Purpose & Impact

As a Corporate Actions Associate, you will own day-to-day corporate actions processing for assigned client workflows across one or more client environments. This role exists to ensure events are captured accurately, elections and instructions are managed on time, and entitlements are processed and reconciled with strong controls-helping protect client outcomes and operational integrity. You will be a key point of accountability for resolving exceptions, escalating risk issues with clear context, and coordinating across internal partners and external custodians. Your impact is measured through accuracy, timeliness, risk management, and the quality of stakeholder communication-especially during high-volume or complex event periods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end corporate actions execution for assigned client environments, ensuring events are captured, validated, elected (when applicable), and processed accurately through completion.
  • Manage elections and instructions by coordinating timely outreach, issuing instructions, and confirming acknowledgements with custodians/counterparties in line with documented client standing instructions.
  • Drive daily reconciliation and exception resolution by investigating cash/position/entitlement discrepancies, documenting findings, and closing breaks with appropriate urgency and controls.
  • Maintain strong controls and audit-ready documentation by following procedures, applying dual controls where required, and escalating risks or control concerns promptly and clearly.
  • Coordinate stakeholders to deliver outcomes by partnering with internal teams (e.g., Middle Office, Accounting, Client Experience, Technology) and external parties to resolve queries and service issues.
  • Support onboarding and change initiatives by helping validate new client configurations/workflows and participating in process or technology improvements that increase quality and scalability.
  • Contribute to team capability by providing day-to-day guidance to Analysts, sharing best practices, and supporting knowledge transfer across the global coverage model.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience in corporate actions and/or investment operations, with the ability to manage time-sensitive workflows and operational risk in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated capability in reconciliation and exception management (e.g., investigating discrepancies, documenting root causes, and driving resolution).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with an understanding of downstream impacts (e.g., cash, positions, accounting/NAV considerations).
  • Clear, professional communication skills and comfort engaging with multiple stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines across multiple workflows, maintaining quality under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including working with data to track, reconcile, and analyze operational breaks).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting multiple client environments (e.g., outsourced, multi-tenant, or multi-client operating models).
  • Familiarity with Aladdin and/or corporate actions workflow tools (e.g., Corporate Actions Manager (CAM)).
  • Knowledge of SWIFT corporate actions message types (MT56x) and custodian communication practices.
  • Experience participating in process improvement, change delivery, testing/UAT, or operational transformation initiatives.
  • Exposure to workflow platforms, data tools, or operations technology systems; experience with AI-enabled tools for productivity or analysis is a plus.
  • Prior experience coaching or mentoring junior team members in a controls-focused environment.
