6 years of Industrial Design experience shipping mass-produced consumer electronics hardware end-to-end, including 3D CAD surface development, materials/CMF, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and owning factory-floor tooling.
Experience building functional physical prototypes, appearance models, and reference design specifications for Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partners.
A portfolio or website link included in the resume showcasing end-to-end hardware realization and cross-disciplinary design projects.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience thriving in high-ambiguity 0-to-1 AI startups or research labs after establishing foundational mass-production at a tier-1 consumer hardware organization.
Demonstrated multidisciplinary portfolio spanning beyond traditional product realization into spatial/interior architecture, event and installation design, 3D motion graphics, and video compositing/VFX.
Fluency integrating Generative AI tools and experimental digital workflows into rapid concept exploration, visualization, and prototyping.
About the job As the Industrial Prototyping Lead on Google Beam, you will operate as a multidisciplinary design leader pioneering the next-generation of lifelike 3D communication hardware and spatial experiences. At the intersection of physical industrial design, spatial architecture, and generative AI workflows, you will define and fabricate functional hardware reference designs, room-scale installations, and multimodal prototypes that guide both internal engineering teams and external OEM/Original Device Manufacturer (ODM) partners.
Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Drive end-to-end industrial design from 3D CAD surface development, CMF, and functional appearance models through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and factory-floor tooling validation for Google Beam reference designs.
Design and fabricate cross-scale physical environments, custom furniture, telepresence booth architectures, and high-impact event installations (including major industry activations).
Integrate Generative AI tools, 3D motion graphics, real-time rendering engines (Unreal/Unity), and video compositing/VFX into rapid concept exploration, user-testing stimuli, and executive design storytelling.
Partner with UX, Product Managers, and Engineering leaders to define priorities and envision the future of remote communication and collaboration.
