Full Job Description
The Unit Manager oversees the plant unit assigned to help workers achieve the goals of the plant. As a unit manager, your job duties include scheduling shifts, assessing the unit's efficiency, and ensuring that every worker is performing their tasks correctly.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operates the plant in a safe manner, compliant with Operating Permits and "Good Neighbor" policies, and to produce high quality products which meet sor exceed budgeted costs and production forecasts.
  • Communicate production schedules and product availability to the plant administrators to service customer needs.
  • Identifying and clearly articulating the Plant's Goals to operating personnel and leading the message in such a way that the Plant's Goals are clearly identifiable to and owned by Operating Personnel
  • Hiring, evaluating and managing personnel in their operating areas. Ensure that employees have proper training and tools/equipment to safely and effectively perform their job tasks
  • Leading efforts to reduce costs through improved yields and throughput; Perform necessary accounting procedures for month end closing and yearly inventory audits
  • Leads the plant employees in HSE efforts in-line with management/company philosophy and programs
  • Schedule employees and manage overtime, vacations. Ensure the plant is properly staffed to operate
  • Maintain accurate production records and control inventory and shipping processes so that they are accurate at all times and match SAP records
  • Take an active role in plant maintenance and PM systems to improve plant reliability
  • Engages with employees and coaches for performance to expectations;


H&S Responsibilities:

  • Operates the plant in a safe manner, compliant with Operating Permits and "Good Neighbor" policies, and to produce high quality products which meet sor exceed budgeted costs and production forecasts

  • Identifys ways to make employee jobs safer, more productive, more meaningful, and more efficient
  • Understands plant equipment, limitations, and maintenance requirements; Identifies improvement projects - creates adhoc teams to solve problems and follows through
  • Understands Fixed/Variable Cost budgets and demonstrates cost control measures


Monitors and understands the Quality mission - from production to product shipment; Communicates with Sales and Corporate Planning as needed; Communicates, promotes and personally demonstrates Safety/Health (including HSE Essentials) as #1 priority

  • Responsible for overall HSE performance in the unit, including ensuring that all policies, guidelines and standards are implemented and effective.
  • Responsible for compliance to all regulatory and legal requirements in the unit including ensuring that all policies, guidelines and standards are implemented and effective.
  • Assist in investigation of major HR issues - disciplinary or termination cases; Manages daily production scheduling, including product changes, packaging requirements and any special instructions.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in any Engineering discipline
  • Five plus years of experience in Operations Management in a manufacturing environment


Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be proficient in SAP
  • Must have working knowledge of basic OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Must have knowledge of ISO 9001
