The BOS4 Data Center Facilities Technician supports the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of all critical infrastructure at the BOS4 site. This multi-discipline role combines electrical, mechanical, and basic IT/remote-hands competencies to execute daily rounds, respond to alarms, support customer ecosystems, and uphold BOS4's operational standards. Technicians work within established procedures, passdown workflows, and site documentation requirements to ensure consistent performance in a mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Systems
- Perform BOS4 electrical rounds including RPP load readings, breaker status checks, EPMS alarm review, and panel inspections.
- Support operation and maintenance of UPS systems, PDU/RPP panels, switchgear, ATS/STS equipment, and distribution components.
- Assist with IR scans, electrical PMs, vendor oversight, and safe execution of LOTO procedures.
- Respond to electrical abnormalities and support troubleshooting during customer-impacting events.
- Mechanical Plant Operations
- Conduct BOS4 mechanical rounds covering CRAHs, chillers, cooling towers, SCHWPs, CDWPs, VFDs, humidification systems, and related plant equipment.
- Monitor BMS for temperature, humidity, DP, flow, and equipment status; identify deviations and escalate per BOS4 protocol.
- Execute BOS4 procedures for placing equipment into Hand/Auto and support controls/engineering during system patches, resets, and stabilization.
- Assist with troubleshooting hot/cold aisle issues, valve behavior, pump alarms, and airflow irregularities.
IT / Remote-Hands Support
- Perform rack/stack activities including installing servers, switches, cabling, and power connections.
- Verify link lights, power states, and basic connectivity for customer equipment.
- Maintain BOS4 cabling standards for fiber and copper, ensuring proper routing, labeling, and documentation.
- Support customer ecosystem builds, cage audits, power utilization checks, and ticket-driven remote-hands tasks.
Monitoring, Documentation & Communication
- Monitor BMS/EPMS for alarms and trends; initiate response per BOS4 escalation workflow.
- Document all activities in the BOS4 daily logbook, passdown, and ticketing systems with clear, concise operational notes.
- Provide real-time equipment status during incidents and support recovery actions.
- Maintain accurate records of rounds, maintenance activities, and vendor work.
Safety, Compliance & Site Standards
- Follow BOS4 safety protocols including LOTO, PPE requirements, hazard reporting, and vendor escort/oversight.
- Maintain compliance with site security, access control, and customer-specific requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives across electrical, mechanical, and IT domains.
Qualifications
- Experience with electrical or mechanical systems in mission-critical or industrial environments; data center experience preferred.
- Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Electrician License preferred for candidates performing advanced electrical work or supporting BOS4's critical electrical infrastructure.
- Mechanical-focused candidates without an electrical license are strongly encouraged to apply. BOS4 supports cross-training, professional development, and progression toward electrical competencies.
- Candidates without a license may perform mechanical, facilities, and basic electrical tasks under appropriate supervision and within state regulatory guidelines.
- Basic IT hardware and cabling knowledge; ability to support customer ecosystems and remote-hands tasks.
- Ability to interpret electrical single-lines, mechanical schematics, and BMS/EPMS data.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort working in a high-availability environment.
- Ability to lift equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform physical tasks as required.

Collective Bargaining Agreement: The pay range for this position is subject to an applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. The negotiated rate for the Union ICT Svc Delivery Tech position is $50.89 per hour. Please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding pay scale.
