PURPOSE:
Develops both high-fidelity HTML mockups and low-fidelity design artifacts in collaboration with Product Owner, software developers, and stakeholders. Guides user interface development with expertise based on experience, research, and industry guidelines.
Responsibilities
Web User Interface Design
- Provides recommendations to system stakeholders based on research and industry guidelines for best practice in web user experience.
- Develops wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to illustrate user interface solutions for system requirements.
- Produces HTML prototypes, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript files to demonstrate complex functionality.
- Facilitates discussion with product owners and developers about user interface implementation, user experience, and usability issues.
- Produces and maintains a library of user interface files (graphics, HTML templates, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, ASP.Net master pages) to facilitate production of web applications, streamline development processes, and maintain consistency.
Web User Interface Implementation
- Creates Section 508 compliant XHTML using CSS appropriately and creating images as needed.
- Produces and maintains ASP.Net master pages, web forms, and Model-View-Controller (MVC) views in existing web applications that implement UI solutions from prototypes.
Provides Web User Interface Guidance and Troubleshooting
- Works with developers to provide HTML/XHTML, CSS, images and/or JavaScript samples and troubleshooting.
- Consults on 508 compliance issues, user experience concerns, browser compatibility, and pros/cons of specific implementations.
- Provides wiki articles and web URLs to document guidelines and industry best practices for user experience and user interface development.
Other duties as assigned
- Serves in other capacities such as organizational-wide teams, internal ISD process improvement initiatives, and miscellaneous works assignments.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Communications, Graphic Design or related field and 2-4 years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience performing duties as described may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
- Must have demonstrated excellent written and oral skills.
- Experience with development team and stakeholder collaboration on large-scale enterprise applications.
- 2+ years producing web user interface prototypes.
- 2+ years’ experience with Section 508, HTML/XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

- Client-side JavaScript for interaction design
- Design applications for wireframes and static design artifacts (Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud)
- Preferred:
- Microsoft TFS DevOps
- SQL Server Management Studio (for local db)
- js/Gulp.js build tools
- Axe Accessibility Validator
- jQuery and related plugins (DataTables, jQuery UI)
