Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly analytical and technical tax manager to join the tax team. This role is designed for a tax professional with a strong interest in US taxes and abatement programs. The role will focus heavily on abatement programs within US (85%), while supporting US tax compliance and reporting (15%).

What you will be responsible for (Job Description):

We are seeking a highly analytical and technical Tax Manager to join our Tax team. This role is ideal for a tax professional with a strong interest in US taxes and abatement programs, and who enjoys working at the intersection of strategic incentive planning and technical tax analysis.

The role is split across two core areas:
  • 85% - US Tax Abatement Programs: Identifying, analyzing, applying for, and managing tax abatements including but not limited to property tax, credits, and incentive programs across US jurisdictions.
  • 15% - Advisory, Compliance Support & Tax Authority Liaison: Providing tax advisory support, assisting with US tax compliance, and acting as a point of contact with tax authorities.

Abatement Programs (85%)
  • Research and identify applicable US federal, state, and local tax abatement, exemption, and incentive programs relevant to the company's operations and facilities.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of abatement applications, including eligibility analysis, documentation preparation, submission, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
  • Track statutory deadlines, filing requirements, and renewal obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Partner with relevant stakeholders to gather data needed to support abatement applications and renewals.
  • Model the financial impact of abatement programs, including savings quantification and forecasting.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting tax abatements and incentive programs and assess their impact on the business.
  • Maintain relationships with relevant government agencies, economic development authorities, and external advisors.
  • Build and maintain a centralized tracking system/database for all active and pending abatement agreements, obligations, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare internal reporting and analysis on abatement program performance and savings realized.
  • Collaboration with external consultant on tax abatement initiatives, ensuring effective communication, progress tracking, and timely resolution of outstanding matters.

US Tax Advisory, Compliance Support & Tax Authority Liaison (15%)
  • Provide advisory support to internal stakeholders on US tax matters, with particular focus on abatement-related risks and opportunities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the company and tax authorities, managing correspondence, inquiries, and requests as required.
  • Represent the company in meetings, calls, and communications with tax authorities, ensuring timely and accurate information flow in both directions.
  • Support US federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting processes as needed.
  • Assist with responses to tax notices, audits, and information requests from tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors on compliance deliverables when required.
  • Liaise with the Tax Office and/or State Authorities to address complex tax issues and manage all matters related to tax abatement programs on behalf of Group Tax team
  • Ensure timely forwarding of the relevant documents to Group Tax team to support compliance and strategic tax objectives
  • Oversee and maintain secure access to tax authority portals and official tax websites to retrieve tax-related documents, official correspondence, updates on new tax developments and compliance records

How you will stand out (Requirements):
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field (CPA, CA, or equivalent certification is a plus).
  • 5-7 years of tax experience, with at least 4 years focused on US tax abatement, credits and incentives, or property tax within a multinational corporation, economic development consultancy, or major public accounting firm (e.g., Big 4).
  • Proven knowledge of US federal, state, and local tax abatement, exemption, and incentive programs, including property tax abatement and credit/incentive negotiation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the full lifecycle of abatement or incentive applications, from eligibility analysis through submission, negotiation, and ongoing compliance monitoring.
  • Experience liaising directly with tax authorities, economic development agencies, and external advisors.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and work with large financial data sets and model savings and financial impact.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex tax concepts clearly to non-tax stakeholders.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple jurisdictions and deadlines simultaneously.
