Sentara Heart Hospital located on the Campus of Sentara Norfolk General in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Travel Registered Nurse for the Advanced Heart Failure Unit!

Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Advanced Heart Failure Unit

Sentara Heart Hospital - Norfolk, VA

  • $70.00/hr pay rate
  • Temporary Full Time
  • 14-week assignment

Seeking Travel RNs with the following:
  • Demonstrated experience in cardiac care, including working with patients in telemetry, step-down, or critical care settings.
  • Proficient in interpreting cardiac rhythms, including identification of arrhythmias and understanding their clinical significance.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of appropriate nursing interventions for various cardiac conditions, including emergency response protocols and medication administration.


Education
  • Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required


Certification/Licensure
  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • ACLS
  • NIH Stroke Scale


Experience
  • Must have 2 or more years of recent acute care Cardiac hospital RN experience


Advanced Heart Failure Unit (AHFU) Overview:

The AHFU is a 24-bed high-acuity cardiac care unit specializing in the treatment of patients with:
  • Severe heart failure
  • Pre- and post-heart transplant care
  • Pulmonary hypertension


While Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) and transplant experience are not required, opportunities exist for nurses who are eager to expand their cardiac skill set in these areas.

Clinical Environment & Equipment
  • Nurses work with advanced bedside monitoring systems and other high-tech equipment.
  • For candidates with previous ICU experience, there are opportunities to titrate intravenous medications based on hemodynamic monitoring.


Team Culture & Communication
  • The unit thrives on 24/7 consistent communication and intricate interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • A strong culture of collaboration and mutual support is essential for success on the AHFU.


Staffing & Patient Load
  • Nurses typically care for 3-4 patients, depending on acuity levels.
