Position Details:The Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a Physician Assistant to join a very enthusiastic team in the Trauma/Acute Care Surgical Services. The hospital has achieved a Level III designation for trauma. The successful candidate will be responsible for various functions including evaluating trauma patients in the emergency room, rounding, bedside procedures, trauma consults, and possible first-assisting in the OR. APPs will work in collaboration with a number of Acute Care Surgeons. The service will work in collaboration with Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Thoracic, Vascular, ENT, PlasticSurgery and Urology.

Setting: Inpatient, trauma surgery
Schedule: Full-time (3 x13's), rotating schedule- Days, Nights, Weekends.
Call schedule: No call

Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners Role Scope: Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider's practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.
