The Role

As a Distribution Portfolio Engineer, you'll help utility clients make smarter, more strategic infrastructure investment decisions that support the reliability and future growth of the electric grid. Working at the intersection of engineering, planning, project management, and client strategy, you'll partner with stakeholders to develop long-term capital investment plans, evaluate project priorities, and help shape programs that deliver lasting value.

What Your Day Will Look Like
  • Develop and maintain long-range capital investment portfolios for utility clients.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, project management, and client teams to identify current and future infrastructure needs.
  • Support the development and execution of multi-year capital investment plans.
  • Evaluate project priorities, funding requirements, schedules, risks, and overall portfolio impacts.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize project sequencing, improve efficiency, and maximize the value of capital investments.
  • Assist in developing project scopes, schedules, cost estimates, and funding strategies.
  • Review engineering, financial, and project data to support planning and investment decisions.
  • Analyze portfolio data to identify trends, risks, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support equipment planning efforts, including transformer and distribution asset planning.
  • Coordinate across multiple teams to address project dependencies, resource constraints, and execution challenges.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and portfolio management best practices.
  • Support the development of standards, templates, and governance processes that improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Provide training, knowledge sharing, and support as new planning tools and processes are implemented.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with occasional travel, including visits to client sites and utility facilities.
