Full Job Description
TASKS YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH

The Tooling Designer is responsible for designing, modifying, and maintaining manufacturing tooling solutions based on engineering and production requirements. This role supports production efficiency, quality, and safety by delivering reliable and innovative tooling designs while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams throughout the design, fabrication, and validation process.

  • Design, develop, modify, and update tooling drawings and 3D models based on manufacturing and engineering requirements.
  • Create manufacturing and assembly tooling, fixtures, jigs and support equipment used in production environments.
  • Design and support tooling used in a CNC 5-axis machining environment, specializing in the manufacturing of complex machined components.
  • Participate in tooling validation and try-out activities in collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Analyze and resolve technical issues related to tooling design, fabrication, and implementation.
  • Conduct design reviews, tolerance analyses, and risk assessments to ensure tooling performance and reliability.
  • Support tooling manufacturing, validation, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain tooling documentation, configuration control, and revision management.
  • Contribute to cost reduction efforts and improvements in manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and best design practices.

Qualifications
  • College diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in tooling design, manufacturing, or industrial production environments.
  • Proficiency with CATIA V5 including experience working within a PLM environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling fabrication, and assembly operations.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing methods such as machining, assembly processes, composite materials, additive manufacturing (3D printing), and production tooling development.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations is considered an asset.
