Structural Engineer, Tilt-Up Construction
Position Description

As a Structural Engineer specializing in tilt-up construction, you will handle the structural engineering work for projects using tilt-up concrete panel systems within Cushing Terrell's commercial vertical market. This is a hybrid position based in our Denver office, working closely with architects, designers, and project managers to deliver fully integrated design solutions through final construction documents.

What does this role involve day to day? You will manage panel design and connection detailing, coordinate erection sequencing with contractors, and perform structural analysis and design calculations for panels, connections, and supporting structural systems. What will you create? You will develop construction documents, plans, and specifications for tilt-up structures, both independently and with your team. What does success look like year one? You will be managing structural project scope, budget, and schedule, developing structural fee proposals and contracts, and building client relationships within the commercial vertical market.

This role is well suited to a mid- to senior-level engineer with hands-on experience in tilt-up panel design, erection sequencing, and connection detailing.
Position Salary Range*

The expected salary range for this position is $83,000 to $100,000 annually.
Required Qualifications**

• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited school
• 6+ years of structural engineering experience, including direct experience with tilt-up concrete construction
• Demonstrated experience with tilt-up panel design, including layout, design, and connection detailing
• Working knowledge of structural analysis software (RISA, RAM Structural, Enercalc, or similar) and proficiency in Bluebeam, Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Strong understanding of applicable building codes and design standards governing tilt-up concrete construction
• Experience designing with concrete and structural steel in support of tilt-up systems
• Strong collaboration, communication, and time-management skills to meet project deadlines

Preferred Qualifications**

• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) in the state of the hiring Cushing Terrell office, or ability to obtain by comity

Position Responsibilities***

• Manage all structural engineering aspects of tilt-up construction projects
• Lead panel design and coordinate erection sequencing with contractors
• Develop construction documents, plans, and specifications, independently and with team members
• Perform structural analysis and design calculations for panels, connections, and supporting structural systems
• Manage structural project scope, budget, and schedule
• Develop structural fee proposals and contracts
• Build and maintain client relationships
• Coordinate with architectural teams and external clients to deliver integrated tilt-up project solutions

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate's years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
