- Travel expected up to 10% of the time
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Lead thermal design and analysis of rotating and static components/assemblies from concept through fabrication, testing, validation and into service.
- Complete thermal design optimization studies to define engine and component cooling requirements, including sizing of lubrication and cooling flows.
- Complete hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) of rotating and static components and assemblies to evaluate hardware thermal state and engine heat rejection.
- Collaborate with team members from various fields and backgrounds to perform trade studies which consider operating environment and duty cycle, to optimize design performance and durability.
- Document thermal analysis to support release of engineering drawings and documents
- Improve enterprise analysis capabilities by creating process automation tools for model creation, thermal balance checks, and analysis report generation
- Support test plan development to verify requirements and generate material and data necessary to establish confidence in design solutions
