What We Are Looking For

Kinder Morgan is currently seeking a Natural Gas Interstate Pipeline Scheduling Manager to join the East region Scheduling team in our Houston office. In this role, you will supervise a team of professional schedulers across Kinder Morgan's natural gas interstate pipeline assets, primarily responsible for TGP and SNG.

What You Will Do

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide management, training, and delegation of responsibilities across a team of pipeline schedulers.
  • Responsible for the interpretation of tariff and company policy with respect to nominations, meter allocations, customer service and scheduling natural gas transportation/storage across the Kinder Morgan interstate pipelines.
  • Maintain practices, processes, and procedures, which encourage teamwork and decision making while minimizing uncertainty.
  • Advise Scheduling Representatives in issue resolution with customers which will require after-hours calls at times.
  • Oversee daily scheduling tasks across both the day and night teams for transportation and storage services using DART.
  • Monitor point flows at key locations on the pipeline system.
  • Monitor and comply with all SOX processes related to customers' imbalances, including both transportation and operational balancing agreements (OBA).
  • Management contact for shippers, point operators, pipeline field personnel and Gas Control concerning specific interconnect issues impacting gas scheduling including operational changes/restrictions, facility sales, and gas quality.
  • Responsible for communicating physical operating issues to the department and respective Scheduling Representatives.
  • Prepare and participate in annual performance reviews for employees.
  • Responsible for setting individual and team goals that align with departmental goals and motivating direct reports to accomplish them.
  • Responsible for fostering a high-performing culture, ensuring growth and development of team members.
  • Respond to data requests from other areas of the company.
  • Coordinate testing and system enhancements with IT and other departmental Business Process employees.
  • Responsible for communication and follow through to appropriate areas within Business Management concerning issues of all the above.

What You Need

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline.

Experience / Specific Knowledge:
  • Three (3) + years experience in the pipeline industry, preferably dealing with operations/nomination/confirmation/scheduling processes or other relevant areas.
  • Prior leadership/managerial experience preferred.
  • Understanding of natural gas pipeline business operations issues and general understanding of Kinder Morgan's DART Scheduling system.
  • Working knowledge of one or more of Kinder Morgan's Interstate Pipeline tariffs specifically focusing on the services and scheduling areas.
  • Working knowledge of NAESB Standards and Guidelines as it relates to Nominations, Confirmations, and Scheduling.
  • Well-balanced interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communications skills are required. Clearly communicate, orally (face to face and by telephone) and in writing using good business grammar with employees at various levels in the company, customers, and others in business relationships.
  • Demonstrate intermediate to advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to quickly learn other relevant computer systems.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and manage a demanding workload effectively to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Manage a remote staff and perform associated personnel administrative functions.
  • Accept direction and supervision and work effectively and cooperatively with others building strong relationships with a variety of people both internal and external maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.
  • Direct external customer issue resolution.
  • Proven ability to be an integral member of a team
  • Must be available to respond as needed to emergency operational situations impacting pipeline scheduling.
