Test Engineer

Job Summary

Join the Program Acquisition Executive Fires - SHIELD Project Office in a dynamic, fast-paced environment supporting the Lower Tier Interceptor (LTI) Product Office.

As a Subject Matter Expert, you will support all PATRIOT-related Missile Flight Test (MFT) programs and test events. Provide PATRIOT-related test plan development, MFT planning and coordination, test range and resources scheduling, creation and publication of mission smart sheets. Provide on-site technical and test monitoring/reporting support, and post-mission analysis and reporting to include CONUS and OCONUS travel. Design and develop test programs, processes, and systems to measure the functionality and integrity of products and services. Write test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability and evaluate the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications. Gather test data and evaluate the results of tests to determine if product designs and architecture meet customer specifications and performance expectations. Collaborate with other engineering groups to improve or upgrade product performance.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert supporting LTI TEST on LTI managed PATRIOT Launcher and Legacy/PAC-3 Missile Programs.
  • Provide technical support at Working Group and Flight Test planning meetings.
  • Oversee the Test Program SharePoint websites utilized by SHIELD to support a wide range of PATRIOT Test collaboration efforts between the Product Offices.
  • Maintain the PATRIOT Missile Flight Test History Database and its annual publications.
  • Conduct bi-annual AMMO storage inventory.
  • Provide technical expertise for the Field Surveillance Program as a test Subject Matter Expert by participating in PATRIOT activities leading up to and execution of missile firings.
  • Research and develop Courses of Action to help government customers make informed decisions on emerging requirements and obsolescence mitigation efforts. Use engineering knowledge to ensure qualification test plans adequately test new hardware compliance to system requirements.
  • Act as technical lead for the Lower Tier Interceptor PATRIOT Test Plan Working Group.


Basic Qualifications
  • Degree: For SME 1, the education/experience requirements are:
    • High School + 15 years or
    • Associates + 13 years or
    • Bachelors + 11 years or
    • Masters + 9 years or
    • PhD + 7 years
  • Requires in-depth PATRIOT System knowledge, experience, and ability to work independently to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Active security clearance.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Word, Power Point, Excel).
  • Ability to travel up to 25% CONUS and OCONUS.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting U.S. Army Air Defense Launcher and Missile programs
  • SharePoint Experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to the PATRIOT system
