Test Electrical Engineer | Graduate

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Test Electrical Engineer Graduate to participate in hardware design, development, test and qualification of In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) products; provide engineering support for Line Replaceable Units (LRU) and Printed Circuit Board Assembly Acceptance Test Procedure (PCBA ATP) station development and support for IFEC production and contract manufacturers.  

In this position, you will also work closely within the hardware test team, communicate and interact with the Project Engineer (PE), Industrial Engineer (ILE), to present/address status, progress, risks, opportunities, action plan(s) as necessary.

  • Internal Customers: Industrialization Engineer, Product Engineer, NPI PM, Industrial OPS team.
  • External suppliers and vendors:  Qualification test lab, OEMs and Contract manufacturers.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for LRU qualification and test cable design.
  • Responsible to support LRU ATP design, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible to support Thales EMI lab management and maintenance and timely test station equipment calibration.
  • Participates in the test activities and qualification of state-of-the-art embedded digital and analog high-speed, mixed-signal communication products.
  • Ensures that hardware test engineering aspects of projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Writes technical specifications, documents, and test procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and experience in Embedded HW development test.
  • Basic knowledge with Linux scripting language and experience of the application SW program setup.
  • Experience using spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, power supplies, soldering station, and proficiency in using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multitask in an environment requiring a high level of detail and accuracy, work independently, and take ownership of all assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural team and must be a self-starter and highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment through ambiguity and evolving requirements.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner and prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

Special Position Requirements

  • Schedule: Core Business Hours 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Physical Environment: Office/cubical/ open space, R&D lab, manufacturing/production area.  Some work may be occasionally done remotely.
  • Physical Demands: Occasional need to be able to lift and move materials up to 40 lbs.
  • Travel: Some domestic travel may be required.
