You Are:
We are seeking an experienced Platform Architect to design, evolve, and unify our core platform ecosystem. In this role, you will define the technical strategy across three critical pillars: our Application Runtime Platforms, our Developer Platform (DevOps), and our AI Platform.
The Work: - Architecture & Strategy: Define technical vision, standards, and roadmaps across the runtime infrastructure, developer tooling, and enterprise AI platforms.
- Core Application Platform: Architect scalable, multi-region container orchestration (Kubernetes), service mesh, API gateways, and distributed messaging pipelines capable of handling massive load with 99.9%+ availability.
- Developer Platform & DevEx: Design self-service internal developer platforms (IDPs), streamlined CI/CD pipelines, automated testing harnesses, and environment provisioning to minimize cognitive load and accelerate cycle times.
- Resilience & Reliability: Institutionalize Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, chaos testing, automated multi-zone/multi-region failovers, and unified observability (metrics, logs, traces).
- Technical Governance & Mentorship: Guide platform engineering squads, mentor senior engineers, and balance near-term feature velocity with long-term architectural health.
Travel may be required for this role. The amount of travel will vary from 0 to 100% depending on business need and client requirement
Here's what you need:- Minimum of 8 years in software architecture, distributed systems, and platform engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years in an architect or technical lead role running massive, internet-scale production environments.
- Minimum of 3 years supporting the Retail Industry and/or clients
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent (minimum 12 years' work experience). If Associate's Degree, must have equivalent minimum 6-year work experience
Bonus points if:- You have Distributed Runtime Expertise: Production mastery of Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures (AWS/GCP/Azure), service meshes (e.g., Istio), and high-throughput messaging (e.g., Kafka).
- You have Developer Leadership experience: Proven track record building internal developer platforms, GitOps workflows (ArgoCD/Flux), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi), and automated developer portals (Backstage or similar).
- You have experience with AI/ML Infrastructure: Experience standing up scalable AI runtime and inference architectures, vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, Qdrant), model deployment runtimes (vLLM, Triton, Ray), and orchestration frameworks (Kubeflow).
- You have experience with Reliability Engineering: Deep command of SLI/SLO definitions, capacity planning, distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry), and disaster recovery architectures.
