JOB SUMMARY

This is a dual-role position supporting Longhorn Pipeline operations and maintenance by performing Technician and Damage Prevention duties at the Cartman Station Area near Eldorado, Texas.

The Technician is responsible for providing operational, technical, electrical, and mechanical support for all facility equipment. The incumbent will also perform damage prevention duties, including line locating, one calls, and line crossings.

This position is responsible for the Longhorn Pipeline, Remote Valve Sites and Cartman Station near Eldorado Texas.

Due to emergency response and call-out requirements, the selected candidate will need to live within 1 hour of Eldorado, TX. Acceptable locations include San Angelo, Sonora, and Menard.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The Technician is responsible for providing operational, technical, electrical, and mechanical support for all facility assets. Incumbents are responsible for a variety of tasks involved in troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, and repairing equipment within an assigned area.

This is considered an intermediate or journey-level position that the incumbent can perform independently or with minimal supervision.


Provide technical support for assigned location(s), which primarily involve the transportation of crude oil, refined products, and/or natural gas liquids.
Maintain a working knowledge of company policies/procedures as they relate to the operation/maintenance of the assigned assets, including System Integrity Plan (SIP) and OQ requirements and implement them into location work practices. Attend and actively participate in required safety training meetings.
Perform routine testing, inspection, and maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all assigned mainline and facility equipment/systems, including but not limited to: pumps, electric motors, electrical equipment, electronic and/or pneumatic instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, measurement systems, product testing & analysis, piping systems, valves, centrifugal, positive displacement pumps, positive displacement meters, turbine meters, and similar other equipment and systems.
Complete and maintain required documentation/records associated with performed maintenance and repair.
Manage location projects, including major overhauls, troubleshooting for pumps and mechanical seals, new installations, or modifications of existing equipment, etc.
Perform damage prevention operator duties to include line locating, one-calls and line crossings.
Perform operations duties to include pipeline pigging, strainer replacements, and maintenance and inspections of mainline valves.
Perform other functions as requested by the Supervisor of Operations.

Education

  • High school diploma required

  • Experience in use and function of tools and equipment applicable to position including but not limited to:

  • Manual/power tools

  • Electronic testing devices

  • Control devices

  • Experience and training related to:

  • Gas processing fundamentals

  • Computers and related software

  • Governmental rules, regulations, and (electric) codes

  • Company policies and procedures including safe handling practices for flammable gases, liquids, and high pressure systems

  • Reliability Based Programs

  • Experience reading and interpreting repair orders, mechanical drawings, procedures, charts, diagrams, dials, gauges, and equipment manuals

  • Experience preparing, processing, or verifying maintenance and repair records, safety and environmental reports, electrical schematics and diagrams, pressure readings, and material and supply orders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of: the use and function of reciprocating or gas turbine engines, compressors, and electronic and processing equipment applicable to position

  • Knowledge of: instrumentation, electronics, tools and control systems

  • Ability to: apply addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebraic formulas

  • Ability to: communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information and instructions
