Full Job Description
Opportunity Overview:

Do you enjoy synthesizing the complex for engineering audiences? Do you want to own the documentation for a feature from the first spec review to the release notes that ship with the solution? Ever wonder how Teradyne's customers learn to write, debug, and optimize the test programs that verify every semiconductor device they build? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are looking for a technical writer with a couple of years of experience under their belt who is ready to work with less direction and more ownership. In this role you will draft from specifications, source code, and SME interviews rather than from finished input, and you will produce publication-ready content for the programmers of our Automated Test Equipment (ATE).

You will work closely with developers, engineers, product managers, field engineers, and the marketing teams to understand the product and translate it into user-friendly help content, guides, tutorials, code examples, and release notes, using a docs-as-code toolchain and the latest AI-enabled tools.

  • Plan, write, edit, and maintain technical documentation for assigned software features and product areas, including release notes and updates through a full release cycle
  • Own the documentation for a feature or a defined portion of a product's content set, and deliver it on the release schedule
  • Draft content from specifications, source code, and SME interviews, with limited rework required
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and evaluate information, identify user requirements, and resolve conflicting or incomplete source material by asking the right questions
  • Apply style, tone, format, and terminology standards consistently across everything you produce
  • Author and publish in a docs-as-code pipeline (Markdown/HTML5, Git, pull requests, CI builds), and structure topics for by AI assistants
  • Verify content by exercising the product: run the procedures, execute the code examples, and file defects
  • Host routine SME reviews, incorporate feedback accurately, and review and update existing content to reflect changes, enhancements, and customer feedback
  • Research and stay updated on the latest trends, developments, and best practices in technical writing and the ATE industry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to produce clean, well-organized, publication-ready content that is written to the reader's task rather than to the feature's mechanics
  • Ability to read specifications and source code well enough to document behavior and to write or adapt working code examples
  • Ability to work alone on familiar work and to take general direction on new or unfamiliar areas
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Attention to detail and quality, including verifying content against the product before it is considered finished
  • Familiarity with software development processes and methodologies, such as agile, scrum, and waterfall
  • Familiarity with documentation tools and AI enablement, such as Markdown, HTML, XML, Git, Jira, and Confluence
  • Familiarity with software products and some coding, such as Windows, iOS, C#/C++, and VBA
