Description
SAIC is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to develop, edit, and maintain a wide range of technical and programmatic documentation in support of NSWC Crane and the Sea-Launched Cruise Missile - Nuclear (SLCM-N) program. In this role, you will provide writing, editing, and communications support across the program, ensuring that all documentation meets the highest standards of quality, clarity, and compliance with applicable government and editorial specifications. The successful candidate will bring a complete understanding of communications and technical writing principles and the ability to manage multiple documentation priorities in a dynamic program environment.
Key Responsibilities
Edit, proofread, and provide writing support for the conceptualization, layout, and preparation of high-quality graphics, text, and templates for technical and non-technical documents in support of the SLCM-N program
Design, prepare, and create new media projects and support the development of technical documents including manuals, procedures, specifications, and program plans
Check drafts for format, clarity, and overall cohesiveness; ensure documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhere to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style
Produce and/or revise technical articles, proposals, publications, books, manuals, reports, and marketing materials
Determine project requirements and present drafts of finished products to users, ensuring high quality of output
Review rough drafts produced by technical staff and make constructive suggestions for improvement
Design and develop multimedia applications, systems, and products involving computer graphics and interactive computing using a variety of new media software applications, techniques, and tools
Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and program managers to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of content
Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines
Support configuration management and document control processes

Proficiency with standard industry and government office and analytical tools including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat
Familiarity with document management systems and version control tools
Active Secret clearance
U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Navy or DoD weapons systems acquisition programs
Familiarity with MIL-SPEC documentation standards (e.g., MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-38784)
Proficiency with desktop publishing tools such as Adobe FrameMaker or MadCap Flare
Experience with multimedia development tools and new media applications
Society for Technical Communication (STC) certification or membership
Target salary range: $100,001 - $140,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
