Full Job Description
Job Description
IERUS participates in projects that address weapon systems engineering and the application of advanced machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques as well as RF/Optical hardware prototyping and low rate production. We generally seek to apply agile development fundamentals across our corporate portfolio to accelerate technology development timelines. The end goal being early discovery, accelerated development, and high customer engagement. Job Description:
IERUS Technologies is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead execution of a hardware-focused engineering program. This role combines program management accountability (cost, schedule, customer interface) with chief engineer technical authority (architecture, requirements baseline, design integrity, and verification). The individual will serve as the single point of accountability for a cross-disciplinary engineering team delivering hardware from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the technical authority for the program, owning the system architecture, requirements baseline, interface control documents, and verification/qualification strategy.
Own program cost, schedule, and staffing - including development and maintenance of the Integrated Master Schedule, budget forecasts, and resource allocation across engineering disciplines.
Lead the engineering team (systems, electrical/PCB, firmware/embedded, mechanical, test) through the full hardware lifecycle: concept, design, prototyping, environmental qualification, integration & test, transition to production, and sustainment.
Serve as the primary customer-facing technical and programmatic point of contact, representing the program at formal reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR) and technical interchange meetings.
Identify, assess, and actively manage technical, cost, and schedule risks and opportunities, maintaining a program risk register and driving mitigation actions to closure.
Lead or support engineering estimating, Basis of Estimate development, and technical proposal content for follow-on work and new business capture.
Ensure engineering execution adheres to applicable design and environmental standards for hardware qualification (e.g., MIL-STD-810 environmental testing, MIL-STD-461 EMC/EMI, MIL-STD-882 system safety), tailored to program requirements.
Coordinate requirements traceability, configuration management, and change control, including chairing or supporting Configuration Change Boards and Engineering Review Boards.
Partner with functional engineering managers on staffing, task assignment, and performance management, resolving cross-team technical and interpersonal issues as needed.
Maintain compliance with the company's quality management system throughout design, production, and support activities, including participation in internal and customer-facing audits.
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
8+ years of progressive engineering experience in the aerospace/defense industry, including demonstrated technical leadership on hardware development programs.
Experience owning or co-owning program cost, schedule, and technical baseline for an engineering effort of meaningful scope (e.g., >$1M engineering content).
Working knowledge of hardware qualification and design standards (MIL-STD-810/461/882 or equivalent) and DoD systems engineering review processes.
Demonstrated ability to serve as a customer-facing technical lead, including presenting at formal design reviews.
Experience operating within a certified quality management system (AS9100 or ISO9001) and a CMMI-appraised development environment.
U.S. Citizen
Active Secret clearance (Top Secret eligibility preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. or MBA in a related technical or management discipline.
Prior experience as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead, Control Account Manager (CAM), or similar cost/schedule-accountable role.
Experience leading multi-domain technical teams including Complex Mixed-signal/RF Electronics, Embedded Software/Firmware, Mechanical Engineering, and Systems Engineering.
Familiarity with Program Financial Reporting.
Experience authoring or reviewing technical proposal volumes and Basis of Estimates.
