Job DescriptionOverviewThis manager will provide technical management for Deterministic Safety Analysis activities for a new build Nuclear Power Plant project within a matrix organization. This position reports to the Technical Director, Safety & Licensing and will be assigned to the CANDU MONARK project.
Your role Provide technical management of individuals and teams executing commercial and internal work packages, some of which may be multi-disciplinary, in the design and build phases of the new build project. This includes:
- Approving technical documents prepared by staff working under them.
- Planning and executing work consistent with quality, cost and schedule requirements.
- Removing barriers that would impact deliverables to meet project requirements and priorities, working with the assigned staff to find solutions and optimizations.
- Providing technical advice to staff and as appropriate subject matter expertise to staff and management.
- Participating in the preparation of commercial proposals and approving the technical content of proposals under their direction related to the new build project.
- Forecasting resource demands for the assigned work scope, including skills, capabilities, and durations.
- Interfacing with clients and successfully delivering engineering products in accordance with customer specification and requirements.
- Working with marketing and other corporate groups to maintain and improve client relationships and offerings.
About you- 10 years of DSA experience in a nuclear project environment, including experience leading engineering teams.
- Thorough knowledge of the tools and methods used in safety engineering in Canada, with similar knowledge for the USA and the EU an asset.
- Thorough understanding of the relevant Canadian nuclear regulations related to DSA and standard Canadian analysis methodologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional, preferred qualifications:
- Engineering degree in a related engineering discipline.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, qualified to seal engineering documents.
- Experience managing and/or performing multidisciplinary work with significant interfacing requirements with interfacing disciplines such as licensing, probabilistic safety analysis, mechanical, electrical/I&C, process control, and civil engineering.
- Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada, highly preferable.
- Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet project needs (Note: the initial site location is at the Mississauga head office in Ontario).
