Job Summary and Description:Represents EPRI in visible and strategically critical technical areas, providing enterprise-level leadership in power system simulation, grid engineering, distributed energy resources (DER), and advanced energy-system applications. Establishes EPRI's technical vision and leadership position in transmission and distribution planning, grid modernization, interconnection, DER integration, microgrids, energy storage, and emerging utility technologies. Leads the development of new technical capabilities, research initiatives, advisory services, and market-facing solutions that advance EPRI's mission while creating value for members and clients. Serves as a recognized industry authority and trusted advisor to utilities, regulators, technology providers, and senior industry stakeholders.
Technical Leadership and Industry Impact- Provides strategic technical leadership for EPRI initiatives involving power-system simulation, engineering design, grid modernization, DER integration, power-system planning, and emerging grid technologies.
- Defines technical direction, research priorities, and long-term strategies for areas of expertise across EPRI sectors and programs.
- Serves as a recognized industry authority and thought leader, influencing technical practices, standards, regulatory discussions, and industry adoption of emerging technologies.
- Represents EPRI externally through industry forums, utility executive engagements, technical committees, regulatory discussions, conferences, publications, and strategic partnerships.
- Maintains internationally recognized expertise through continuous engagement in advanced research, technology development, and industry collaboration.
Research, Innovation and Technology Development- Leads the design and advancement of innovative research programs, technical methodologies, analytical frameworks, and technology-development initiatives that address complex industry challenges.
- Guides development of next-generation capabilities related to power-system simulation, digital engineering, DER optimization, grid resilience, electrification, advanced controls, and integrated energy systems.
- Establishes technical approaches and quality standards for advanced engineering studies and simulation activities.
- Oversees the creation and application of advanced modeling platforms and simulation tools supporting transmission, distribution, DER, and grid modernization initiatives.
Business and Practice Leadership- Provides leadership for the growth and expansion of EPRI's engineering, simulation, advisory, and technical-services capabilities.
- Identifies emerging market opportunities and guides development of new service offerings, strategic partnerships, and member solutions aligned with EPRI's mission and business objectives.
- Works with EPRI leadership to establish business strategies, capability roadmaps, investment priorities, and growth plans.
- Contributes to revenue growth through development of high-value technical offerings, strategic engagements, and new business opportunities.
Enterprise Collaboration and Organizational Leadership- Works across EPRI sectors, research programs, and business units to develop integrated technical solutions and maximize organizational impact.
- Leads multidisciplinary teams of senior technical experts and serves as a mentor and advisor to technical staff across the organization.
- Influences organizational strategy and technical direction through collaboration with executive leadership, sector leadership, and key stakeholders.
- Fosters innovation, technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous development throughout the organization.
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement- Serves as a trusted advisor to utility executives, system operators, regulators, government agencies, technology providers, and other industry leaders.
- Cultivates strategic relationships that advance EPRI's technical leadership, research agenda, and market presence.
- Provides executive-level consultation regarding complex technical, business, regulatory, and strategic challenges impacting the energy industry.
- Supports development of strategic proposals, research initiatives, technology roadmaps, and industry-collaboration opportunities.
Education and Experience- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering or scientific discipline preferred.
- Typically requires 20+ years of progressively responsible experience in power systems engineering, research, technology development, utility operations, consulting, or related areas.
- Demonstrated record of technical leadership, innovation, industry influence, and development of new technical capabilities.
- Significant experience working with utility systems, transmission and distribution networks, DER technologies, grid modernization initiatives, and advanced power-system applications.
- Proven ability to influence technical strategy, lead complex multidisciplinary initiatives, and establish credibility with senior industry stakeholders.
- Experience developing and growing technical organizations, programs, practices, or business portfolios is highly desirable.
- U.S.-based position with approximately 10%-25% travel.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI's annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.
