This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will assist in the creation, maintenance, and release of fluid parts, tubing, assemblies, and install CAD models for the Mark 1 vehicle within the Lunar Permanence Business Unit.

You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Preparing design layouts, creating detail part, assembly, and install models, and releasing data sets using CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
  • This role will focus heavily on tubing, fittings, and mated connections including welding.
  • Applying relevant company (design, drafting, parts) techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or Model Base Definition).
  • Interfacing with other vehicle subsystem teams to create and place fluids hardware in the vehicle CAD model.
  • Reviewing engineering drawing and designs to ensure alignment to established specifications and standards.
  • Implementing engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design.
  • 4+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
  • Proficiency in model generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
  • Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons.
  • Experience working with standard spacecraft thermal components (sensors, heaters, etc.)
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
  • Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7 years or greater proven experience.
  • Experience with soft goods CAD modeling.
  • Experience with multilayer insulation.
  • Experience releasing engineering data sets using Model Based Definition.
  • Experience designing for manufacturability.


Base Pay Range for:
CA applicants is $39.34 - $55.07CO applicants is $36.06 - $50.48WA applicants is $39.34 - $55.07
