Summary/ObjectiveThe primary role of the Technical Client Manager is to provide advanced technical analysis and strategic support for merchant payment data. This position focuses on auditing merchant transaction data to ensure the lowest possible interchange rates by identifying the root causes of high processing costs. The specialist will develop technical solutions for interchange optimization, analyze processor files to identify "downgrades," and create data-driven tools to enhance cost management for large-scale clients.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities- Interchange Optimization: Investigate payment processing data from multiple card brands and processors to identify savings opportunities and the root cause of excessive interchange fees.
- Transaction Analysis: Assess complex merchant statements and technical payment issues to ensure transactions qualify for the lowest rates, specifically managing factors like Level II/III data usage.
- Technical Development: Design, write, and enhance proprietary tools and data libraries to automate cost-saving analyses.
- Reporting & Monitoring: Develop and maintain dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to track cost drivers, profitability, and downgrade trends.
- Technical Consulting: Handle technical inquiries from internal stakeholders and external clients regarding scheme fees, network rules, and optimization strategies.
- Compliance & Market Research: Track market trends, industry technology developments, and monitor compliance with Visa/Mastercard network rules and fee programs.

Education & Experience- Education: Bachelor's degree in CS, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Industry Experience: 3+ years in electronic bill pay, credit card processing, merchant acquiring, or treasury.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge of Interchange structures, NACHA, and Card Network regulations.
- Client Success: 3+ years in a technical or analytical client-facing role, with experience presenting to management and clients.
Technical Skills- Advanced Excel Skills: Must be proficient with Pivot Tables and complex data modeling.
- Database Knowledge: Strong SQL database knowledge and understanding.
- Visualization: Experience with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of NACHA Operating Rules and Card Network Operating Regulations is highly desirable

Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
