Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Architect II to support the evolution, automation, and reliability of Bell's cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale bare metal server environments that underpin critical cloud services. You will drive infrastructure standardization, enhance operational efficiency through automation using Python and Ansible, and ensure the security, performance, and scalability of physical server platforms. Working within an Agile and DevOps environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor technical specialists, and contribute to the delivery of innovative, resilient, and future-ready infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate possesses strong Linux administration expertise, extensive datacenter operations experience, and a passion for automation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Standards & Evaluation
    • Implement and standardize our physical server infrastructure (bare metal) solutions to ensure a scalable, reliable, and high-performance foundation for our cloud services.
    • Evaluate the technical requirements and feasibility of incoming bare metal requests, ensuring optimal resource allocation and alignment with our standards.
    • Implement and maintain robust security hardening for bare metal servers through advanced configuration management, access controls, and encryption.
    • Assess plan and coordinate critical software and firmware updates, guiding the team on security patches and performance enhancements.
  • Automation & Operational Excellence
    • Develop and implement the automation of repetitive tasks using scripting (Python, Bash) and automation tools (Ansible) to streamline operations and enhance consistency.
    • Configure, monitor, and optimize the health, and performance of cloud computing physical servers (such as HPE, DELL, Cisco, Supermicro, etc.).
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues, hardware failures, kernel panics, and system performance degradation.
    • Ensure all bare-metal deployments comply with regulatory requirements and internal governance policies.
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations and procedures to empower the team and ensure operational continuity
  • Leadership & Collaboration
    • Mentor and provide technical guidance to a team of two technical support specialists in a dynamic, agile environment.
    • Collaborate closely with vendors and internal teams to deliver efficient support solutions and contribute to cross-functional problem resolution.


Critical Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Science
  • 5 to 10 years of technical and operation experience in IT
  • Strong knowledge of physical server hardware and data center management
  • Advanced Linux knowledge (medium to high level)
  • Experience building and maintain Ansible playbooks (including Ansible tower)
  • Server hardware and firmware management tools:
    • HPe OneView
    • HPe OneView Global Dashboard
    • DellEMC OpenManage
    • DellEMC SupportAssist Enterprise
    • Cisco Intersight
  • Python/API (intermediate to advance)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong time management skills and work ethic to manage multiple accountabilities.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with internal players and vendors
  • Embrace change within the same team
  • Available to work 24/7 on call (rotating schedule)


Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
