Full Job Description
*Note: This position requires presence in our San Jose or San Francisco office location 4 days per week; Lambda's designated work from home day is currently Tuesday.

What You'll Do
  • Lead technical accounting research and prepare memos for complex, non-routine transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Analyze accounting implications of significant transactions, including revenue, equity, debt, business combinations, leases, and stock-based compensation
  • Partner cross-functionally (Legal, Tax, FP&A, Treasury) to assess accounting impacts and provide guidance ahead of execution
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies; evaluate and implement new FASB and SEC guidance in preparation for public company readiness
  • Support IPO readiness efforts, including drafting technical disclosures, assisting with S-1/10-K preparation, and enhancing financial statement presentation
  • Assist with consolidated financial statement preparation, footnotes, and reporting package reviews to ensure accuracy and SEC compliance
  • Support external audits and SOX readiness by preparing documentation, strengthening controls, and improving close and reporting processes
  • Contribute to M&A, system implementations, and other strategic initiatives to support company growth

What we look for in you:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in technical accounting, preferably within a Big 4 firm and/or a publicly traded company
  • Active CPA required
  • Strong knowledge of the U.S. GAAP with experience analyzing complex and non-routine transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, equity, debt, business combinations)
  • Proven ability to research accounting guidance and prepare clear, well-supported technical accounting memos
  • Understanding of SEC reporting and disclosure requirements
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally to assess accounting implications of business initiatives
  • Familiarity with ERP and reporting tools (e.g., NetSuite, Workiva)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical guidance into practical recommendations
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment

Nice to haves:
  • Big 4 audit or accounting advisory experience with strong technical accounting expertise
  • Deep knowledge of ASC 606 (revenue), ASC 842 (leases), and ASC 718 (stock-based compensation), including memo preparation and policy development
  • Experience with pre-IPO technical matters, including equity instruments, preferred stock, warrants, EPS, and SEC reporting considerations
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. GAAP financial reporting, including preparation and review of financial statements and footnote disclosures
  • Experience supporting IPO readiness, S-1/10-K preparation, and PCAOB audits
  • Background in high-growth, pre-IPO or public technology companies (SaaS/AI preferred)
  • Exposure to M&A and purchase accounting, particularly in revenue and equity-related areas
  • Demonstrated ability to strengthen controls and build scalable accounting processes in fast-paced environments

The annual salary range for this position has been set based on market data and other factors. However, a salary higher or lower than this range may be appropriate for a candidate whose qualifications differ meaningfully from those listed in the job description.
