The Commodities and Global Markets Financial Control team supports a diverse business engaged in commodity trading, physical and logistics services, risk management, and financing activities. This role provides technical accounting leadership that will translate complex commercial opportunities into clear, well-supported, and audit-ready accounting outcomes.

Working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Commercial, Risk, and Operations, you will apply deep technical expertise to influence business decisions, support strategic transactions, and maintain high-quality financial reporting within a strong control environment.

Reporting to the Regional Head of Transaction Advisory within Commodities and Global Markets Financial Control, you will be supporting some of the firm's most complex and strategically significant transactions and business initiatives.

You will provide technical accounting advice on transactions, financing arrangements, acquisitions, restructurings, new products, and other commercial initiatives, helping to shape business outcomes while ensuring accurate financial reporting and robust governance.

Upon assessing accounting, reporting, disclosure, and control implications, you will translate complex commercial arrangements into audit ready accounting outcomes and help the business make informed decisions with confidence.

You will assess accounting outcomes under relevant accounting frameworks across areas including revenue recognition, financial instruments, derivatives, leases, customer contracts, consolidation, and business combinations. You will also help implement accounting positions and maintain a strong control environment by ensuring conclusions are appropriately documented, reviewed, and supported.

Acting as a trusted technical accounting adviser, you will research complex accounting matters, review commercial and financing agreements, and prepare technical accounting papers. You will also work with auditors and advisors to support accounting positions and resolve technical accounting issues.

In addition, you will monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments, assess their impact on the business, and support the ongoing development of accounting policies and guidance. Through this work, you will help promote consistency, compliance, and strong financial governance across the organisation.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA, CA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification is ideal but not required
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles related to: Revenue Recognition, Financial Instruments, Derivatives, Lease Accounting, Customer Contracts, Consolidation and Business Combinations
  • Experience researching and documenting technical accounting positions with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities for analysing complex agreements, business structures, valuation reports, and financial models.
  • Ability to explain complex accounting concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences in order to influence and collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.


Preferred

  • Experience with IFRS, including preparation of technical accounting memos under IFRS.
  • Exposure to financing transactions, capital markets activities or structured transactions
  • Experience working with external auditors and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of SEC, public company, or multinational reporting environments
