Job Summary:

Public Storage is seeking a motivated Tax Senior to support the Income Tax team in the preparation and execution of corporate, partnership, and REIT-related tax compliance. This role is ideal for a candidate with 3-4 years of experience looking to deepen technical skills across multiple entity types, including corporations and partnerships within a REIT structure. The Tax Senior will play a key role in preparing tax filings, analyzing transactions, and assisting with issue resolution while collaborating with internal teams and external advisors. This position offers exposure to a dynamic, high-volume tax environment and opportunities to leverage tax technology and develop technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Compliance Preparation:
    Prepare federal and multi-state tax returns and workpapers for corporate and partnership entities, including REIT-related structures.
  • Tax Research & Issue Resolution:
    Assist in researching federal and state tax issues and support resolution of matters related to corporate, partnership, and real estate taxation.
  • Fixed Assets & Transactional Support:
    Analyze fixed asset activity, including depreciation, like-kind exchanges, and Tangible Property Regulations, using tax software and tools.
  • State & Local Tax:
    Prepare and support state apportionment calculations and assist with state filing requirements using systems such as OneSource.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Coordinate with accounting teams to gather required data and support tax return preparation and provision calculations.
  • Audit & Notice Support:
    Assist in responding to federal and state tax notices and provide support during audits and information requests.
  • External Coordination:
    Work with external tax preparers to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax filings.


Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in a tax services environment required. Previous real estate experience in a tax services and REIT experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience with OneSource (Income Tax, Provision, and/or Apportionment), GoSystem Tax RS, Alteryx, and Bloomberg (BNA) Fixed Assets preferred
  • Strong technical understanding of corporate and partnership taxation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with the internal team.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and support a high-volume tax function
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.


Additional Information

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of our total awards approach to compensation which is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses or incentives.
