Stradley Ronon is seeking a highly experienced and service-oriented Tax Manager to oversee and support the Firm's partnership tax functions. This highly visible role serves as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for the Firm's partners, providing guidance and support on partnership tax matters, K-1s, federal and state taxes as well as serving as the primary contact for the firm's outside tax advisors.
The Tax Manager will work closely with Firm leadership, partners, Finance, and external tax advisors to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient administration of partnership tax processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of partnership taxation, multi-state taxation of K-1 recipients, and the ability to clearly communicate complex tax matters to a sophisticated internal audience.
Essential Functions- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted resource for Firm partners regarding individual tax matters and provide responsive, high-quality client service.
- Responsible for the preparation of supporting schedules required for the annual tax return process as well as annual schedules provided to partners.
- Manage the annual composite tax return and pass through entity tax election function
- Manage the quarterly resident and non-resident estimated tax payment process including calculating state apportionments, federal to state adjustments and phantom income.
- Partner with external tax advisors and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely completion of partnership tax filings.
- Provide guidance on federal and state partnership tax matters, including multi-state tax reporting requirements, pass through entity taxes and compliance considerations.
- Analyze and interpret tax information and explain complex tax concepts in a clear and practical manner to partners and Firm leadership.
- Support the Accounting department by analyzing partner capital accounts to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
- Monitor changes in federal and state tax laws and regulations affecting partnerships and advise on potential impacts to the Firm and its partners.
- Collaborate with Accounting and Human Resources to improve processes, enhance efficiencies, and ensure consistent execution of partnership tax activities.
- Assist with planning and implementation of tax-related initiatives and provide recommendations to improve partner service and overall tax operations.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field required.
- CPA, Master's in Taxation, or similar advanced credential preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in partnership taxation, tax compliance, or related tax roles.
- Strong knowledge of federal partnership tax rules and regulations.
- Significant experience with state and local tax matters, including multi-state partnership tax filings and reporting requirements.
- Hands-on experience with Schedule K-1 preparation, pass through entity taxes, composite tax returns, market based sourcing and partner tax support.
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, professional services firms, or law firms preferred.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential financial information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel including the ability to analyze large data sets, create complex formulas, and prepare detailed tax and reconciliations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with partners, executives and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
